I went to the article and read the words, which give me greater context. For one thing, I noticed that 4/5s of the voters were men. That's interesting. Though Trump was favored by young men in the last election, the balance was nowhere near 80%. For voters under 30, the split was 57% men for Trump 59% women for Harris https://navigatorresearch.org/2024-post-election-survey-gender-and-age-analysis-of-2024-election-results/. Why was the sample so skewered toward men? That makes the results less significant, I think.

Then, in looking at the responses, I focused on Caleb, Zachary and Stephen. Reading Stephen's responses, it's hard for me to believe that he is actually a Democrat. However, I focused on those three because those three are the only ones I expect to be switch voters. Anyone willing to call themselves a Republican at this point (after the last year) is not likely to change party.

The 'soft' Trump voter will be an Independent or a Democrat. Sure enough, both Zachary and Caleb gave Trump a 1 on the satisfaction scale: Very disappointed.

I don't think you need rose-colored glasses to see hope in that. If Democrats can peel off 1/5 of Trump voters, that's a win.
