Nobody wants to be old, but sometimes it's very helpful to have lived history.
I don't recognize the world I live in now. When I was a child in rural New York, one phrase everyone respected was, "It's none of your business." We didn't just have the expectation of privacy. We lived it.
Even when my kids were young adults, there was a sense that what they did was "nobody's business." I remember my son telling me that when a police officer stopped him while he was driving and asked where he was coming from he answered,"Back there." When they asked him where he was going, he answered "Up there." He got away with that. Imagine saying that to a police officer today?
He was a new driver back then. He's 52 now. How the world has changed in just those few years.
The government demands to know everything about us, and that we know nothing about them. No data on who used the congressional sexual abuse slush fund, no Epstein Island prosecutions, no votes on war abroad of Flock at home.
