Depending on

how much resistance is to be expected from member states.

Don't the citizens of member countries still have a voice? Can't they exert pressure on their governments to resist?

At least that's one thing we don't have in the US--yet

I doubt that there will be enough resistance to prevent that law, because I fear that still too many people don't care at all about freedom and privacy (especially as long as they think to be not wealthy enough to be directly affected from any measures), plus they believe the narrative that surveilling and controlling everybody in a prophylactic way would be really necessary to be able to fight against criminals.

Way too often I hear sentences like "Who has nothing to hide, has nothing to fear, so why should I be worried if the state knows everything about me?". Sometimes I think that the same people who would feel very annoyed and disturbed if I stood behind them when they were sitting on a bench together with their partners, would allow the state happily to install cameras and microphones in their bedrooms because they have "nothing to hide". :-)

THose who say this, should be recommended to promulgate their credit card data -- or suggest to give away the keys from their apartments; maybe the concequences make clear their mind... a bit... tho I doubt.

If you look how the AfD is developing you can see what happens to resistance in real time: it gets infiltrated and radicalized just so people can point to them and say "you prefer those people to our current government!?"

I also dont know what you are referring to in general. There is no mechanism that makes a German voice more heared by the government compared to America.

Some might even argue that 80% of our laws and programs are directly inspired by America, since we unlike America are not independant.

I'm referring to the asset registry. While there are many mechanisms in place to trace assets in the U.S., there is no centralized registry. It is possible to legally go "off the grid" and be virtually invisible to the government.
