Trump TV? Give me a break
I am a conservative but I like to believe I am not a brainwashed conservative. I feel like today that people are so politically brainwashed that if they are on the left, they automatically hate anything that is done by the right, and vice versa. This happens without these people even investigating what they are "outraged" about and I find this endlessly annoying to the point where I tell my friends, even the conservative ones, to leave the politics at the door if they want to hang out with me. Talk about literally anything else ok?

When I saw the story pop up about the White House unveiling "Trump TV" I at first thought it was a Babylon Bee or Onion (is that still a thing?) article and read it with a grin on my face. My grin disappeared once I realized that it wasn't a joke. This is something they are really going to do, or maybe have already started doing.
I'm not going to be watching it, I'll tell you that much.
The official reason for this is said to be that since the MSM cannot be trusted, that the White House is going to give it to the people straight from the source. This is in response to CNN MSNBC (now called MS-NOW apparently) and someone else being banned from White House press conferences or something. I honestly don't care because really, are there still people out there that think the media is actually telling the truth?
Truth Social was something I never got on board with, nor do I know anyone that uses it. I would probably think less of them if they did but before anyone starts to think I am on a particular side here I feel the same way about anyone that obsesses over Twitter/ X as well.
Oh, it's also meant to be launching because some news networks are boycotting Trump or refusing to report on anything he says and honestly, I would like to see them do exactly that not because I agree with them, but because I am one of the many millions of people that absolutely hate the media, regardless of what "side" they are on.
Launching Trump TV though, this is just face-palm bad. We already have the Tweets, the "Truths", that Telegrams, the other things that mostly just annoy me, and now we are going to have a Trump specific news channel that dear lord, is meant to run 24-hours a day and feature news from Trump directly as well as something someone referred to as the "greatest hits of Trump."
It would be really amusing to me if it wasn't so sad.
The international news media wasted no time turning this into a "Chicken Little" situation (the sky is falling!) by stating this is "tyranny," a move of an oligarchy, and other such platitudes that have been overused since that man has been in office that the words no longer hold any meaning to me anymore.
To the people out there that are crying themselves to sleep over this I have a solution for you: Don't watch it.

The things people get all worked up about these days is a big part of the reason why a lot of people are simply "checking out" as far as staying up-to-date with current events are concerned.
Trump TV is a dumb idea but then again, so is all other news media. Screw it, go ahead and do it man! Hopefully the left responds by having Obama TV or Rosie TV or something equally stupid.
If you want to attack me go ahead. Tell me how I am wrong. I'm much more willing these days to listen to another person than I am to listen to the talking heads on the TV.

Sadly, there will be many who think Trump TV is telling them the truth. It's gotten downright surreal out there in media land.
They already believe FOX is "fair and balanced."
oh yeah. I know a few people like that. These are the brainwashed annoying conservatives that I fear are very low IQ in the first place though. I don't know what drives them to be that way. It isn't free thinking, that is for sure.
This is the stereotype that liberals have of all conservatives. It's the only conservative that is portrayed in liberal MSM. They use the word 'hate' a lot when they talk about their feelings toward conservatives. They also assume I am a liberal, because they think anyone with a brain is a liberal so they start their spiels. I try to point out their error, their ardent wish for it to be a true image.
I liken this painting of all people with a single brush to those videos that conservative or liberal activists with a YT channel do where they go and interview people at an event and feature the stupidest answers they could find. They never feature the responses that were well thought out and make some sense, they always find the sheep who don't know anything but are very willing to talk to someone with the "press."
I often wonder how those exposes would turn out if they really showed a wide range of the responses they received.
Then they present these morons, and there will always be morons in any large group, as being representative of the group as a whole. It's a stupid tactic, but it works on people who are in echo chambers .
On one hand, this meshes perfectly with the stereotype of a dictator and his propaganda machine media. Throwing a national news corporation out of the briefing process also smacks of ego. However, the left wing denunciations of censorship and media monopoly definitely ring hollow, especially after COVID policy silenced all dissent as "misinformation." Partisanship feeds hypocrisy.
you aren't wrong about that. I recall those times vividly and also some people, friends of mine, that completely bought into it and wanted people to be punished severely for not towing the line. That revealed a lot about their true selves during all of that and I haven't been able to look at them the same since then.
Hopefully the population at large learned a bit during all of that and can see how there is a "machine" there controlling the entire damn world... and that they are not part of it.
Yeah this is pretty nuts. I can't help but think Trump just did it as revenge for those networks refusing to cover him now. I thought that was what he wanted though?
yeah I don't get that part either. But I also wonder what the heck they were going to talk about if they were boycotting him. I guess they would have focused on conservative senators and congresspeople.
