I think there was a point where X was a bit off the rails to be honest. I think when truth social was started and then Bluesky or whatever it was came around we saw the two extremes settling into a place of their own. Then with Elon sort of decoupling from politics whether voluntarily or not, X has become a bit more tame. I still don't spend a ton of time there (or on any social media for that matter), but I still have my two accounts that I check occasionally. Mostly for crypto stuff.

Yes, the platform was as heavily censored as Facebook, probably more so, prior to 2022. I think Community Notes is kind of like a "whack-a-mole" situation—well intentioned but not all misinformation is caught or isn't caught fast enough. I spend more time than ever on X, especially for breaking news. Stories seem to break on there before anywhere else.
I feel like it was coopted by the right for a while there and it was impossible to navigate any of the information that was being presented. It doesn't seem to be as bad now.
I got the same impression right after the acquisition-it was like an overcorrection.
