My kids are 7 and 10. They go to a Public School in Australia and it’s recently won awards as one of the top schools in the country so it’s a pretty decent school. The teachers and principal are great and overall as parents my wife and I are really happy with our school so we support the school when we can. I am a firm believer that a schools job should be to educate and not indoctrinate or push ideology. I also firmly believe that we should let kids be kids and not overwhelm or burden them with too many adult problems. We have a mental health epidemic where our young people are frequently having anxiety issues...so can’t we protect them from some of the shit that we adults have to deal with? I don’t want my kids to grow up ignorant, but there is a time and a place for them to learn some of life's harsher realities and I want them to be emotionally and mentally ready to take those realities on. As a parent I know them best and I kind of want to be able to make the call as to when...but I can’t.
The state owned media in this country is the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) and they have this “kid friendly” program called Behind the News - Classroom which is tailored specifically for kids and shown to them AT school. They are often then asked to write reports or essays on what they see. To give you some examples I am going to put up a couple of links that are each only a few minutes long.

Now I know that its still controversial in 2025 but there is a LOT of evidence now that the Covid Vaccines (and mRNA technology) that were mandated to us in 2021 were neither Safe NOR Effective. Vaccine injuries have become more commonly understood and the authorities have completely memory holed the whole "Stop transmission to save grandma" narrative that they pushed in 2021 because stopping transmission (the "effective" part) been totally debunked. I don’t consider myself an anti-vaxxer overall but I refused the Covid jab because it was new technology, not properly tested for safety OR effectiveness and was obviously rushed, politicized and fear-driven bullshit.
I protected my kids during that crazy Covid time but now I am going to have to sit down with them and try to counter some of this state school fear programming that they are being exposed to. I know there are people here on Hive that will be triggered by my take on this, but there will be others who will share my concern. I’d love to hear if my international friends have similar concerns or experiences, but please remember to be respectful in your comments.
I would agree with you on all the points you made. And the situation is very similar in all the countrys I have contact to: Germany and Paraguay...
Indoctrination, ill & destroying ideology, all this "save grandma & you are guilty" in the past and all this ongoing "here is a new topic to be scared" stuff. From mid of 2019 to beginning of 2021 I was in Germany and sooo many people are ill there and are falling apart. Mentaly und in financial aspects (especially in Germany).
It is a constant storm of problems. I don't want to say that some problems have natural reasons - but it's obvious (for me! In my stupid brain.) that we should be fu**ed. A weak person can't defend. And if there is any energy left, we are welcome to slip into the "divide & rule" game. Combined with "bread & games". And all this brainfoo destroys persons, relations, even families
Here in Paraguay most people are living in an enslaving system too - and I assume the population will not rise up in a siginificant amount in the next years (exept the freemasons which act here very free and without any need to hide. In the opposite; they wear their freemason's apron for the inauguration into their new political position... Lodges ans monuments, stickers on their big cars/trucks... "everywhere".) - but I am sooo happy to moved away from this western brainfu** into a surrounding where I have more self-responsibility, more freedom and the posiibility to handle that. A free life is not easy to handle (many enslaved persons wish freedom for their life/decisions, but do not know that it is much harder to handle. [But how could they? They never had/experienced that...] Or said diffently: maybe you have to think and do less, can sit back at the evening with your beer, when someone manages your life), but I am so happy to live without all these men-made rule set where is very often not the best setting for an individualist. So glad, to be away from this mind- & life-control stuff...
Sure, I am not free. Nowhere I would be. Freedom is an illusion. But I can live much better when I don't have people which try to force me into their plans/agenda - at least in my direct surrounding/bubble.
P.S.: Everybody can do like he prefers. I understand why some people prefer to accept the "I am managed status. Just leave me alone with my life and shut up! I feel okay!" and that's okay. Everybody how he prefers. No offense...

It’s been quite telling just how many people will immediately sell out there family & friends. They had hotlines to report people having friends over and not wearing masks. The west is no different than the old Soviet Union propaganda wise.
Oh, yes, hotlines become very "famous" in Germany since then. And especially in the last month there are more and more hotlines to call out "the wrong ones" + of course a lot of differmation about "the wrong ones". Reminds me kind of... Wasn't there someting in Germany, 90 years ago? And right now it is developing very hard into a very similar direction. But one difference is that now an "anti-" is in front of the name of the movement.
To see what is happening... I don't like to think about... Could be sad to see this happening in the old home country...
It does seem like people are waking up in parts of the world, but over here in Australia the majority are very much asleep at the wheel. Unfortunately we probably will pay the price and learn the hard way.
Yes, both things could/may be. Probably. So you underscored the important - and I am very sure you know that: the need of to stay in a positive vibe with a smile in- and outside. We have to. Otherwise we will end with a broken mentality too.

Schools have always been and will always be full filled with indoctrination because teachers have their ideology and they will want to transmit it to the kids... You did well, making kids grow with fear is a tactic to keep them down when they will be adult
Here in a school some teachers have taken kids (3-5 years) to a masque and made them get on knees and submit to prey, are you fucking serious? Or some teacher gave a test to do to go around, find a random immigrant in the street and ask him about its own history, needless to say that for some of the students didn't end well as they met not good persons while doing this
It is crazy to see what some people think is ok. Many even think that children are the property of the state and parents have no rights to raise them.
BTN was a dumpster fire back when I was at school. Some of those articles though; claiming we need 95% coverage for herd immunity. Honestly, if your plan requires 19 people out of 20 follow it flawlessly, it's a bad plan.
Yes, I vaguely remember BTN at school too. I guess this is not a new phenomena, just one that I am concerned about now in parenthood.
I always did what I believed to be right for my daughter. Parents know their own kids the best. Just stay the course.
To be fair the schools don't really have much say over what happens in those broadcasts. In the US they used to have something called Channel 1 that students would watch at the beginning of the day to cover current events and stuff like that. It was just something that got pushed through the airwaves. We had zero control of what the content was short of just shutting the TV off.
Yes, I know that our school is not really to blame. They have a curriculum to follow and must abide by the rules of the system that they are a part of.
No worries. It's a bad habit of mine. I work in the public school system, so I get a big defensive. We definitely aren't perfect, but we always seem to be a big target for criticism!
This is mild stuff. I still remember Soviet Union propaganda in schools and news. Russia has became a true heir of the Soviet Union where there is war propaganda in schools, TV and everywhere.

Thanks. This is interesting. I can see that state indoctrination of youth is a common theme in the modern world and throughout history too. It is milder here in Australia but still not ok with me.
Been a while on your post,been looking over mom after her transplant....I really respect how deeply you care about your kids' mental and emotional well-being....It shows you ain't just parenting, you're present. Childhood should be a safe place, not a lesson in grown up mess... BTN might feel a bit one sided, yeah..... but it’s also trying to break down real and tricky stuff for kids to understand. And honestly, with kids always seeing fake info online, I don’t think schools can just teach math and old history. The real issue isn’t if they teach new stuff..... it’s how they teach it.
