Scientists are alarmed by the detection of estrogen levels in water, raising concerns about potential impacts on human and wildlife health, particularly due to the incomplete removal of estrogens by wastewater treatment plants and their presence in surface and drinking water sources.
This was from an article ad there are many of them you can google from 2004 onwards. Our pee is treated and sent to the rivers etc and often ends back as tap water. Thames Water uses the Thames Rive water once treated for tap water along with ground water, but the treated pee also flows into the Thames. Some estimates have it between 11 and 20 times now that this has passed through humans. Why I use bottled spring water. Oh and this is not just London as most countries do this today.
oh god.... oh, that's both funny and terrifying at the same time. I recall being in a rest stop that used vegetable oil instead of water for some reason in the urinals and it was just strange. I can't imagine that they stuck with that.
