Yes the problem with here is they don't like renewables as it does not befit their revenues. SA is not serious about going green and Trump was right to remove all funding as this lot will use it for their own use. If it does not directly benefit them then they do not care if it is good for the climate. Living in Africa you see so much and it is not how the rest of the world thinks. China bolstered their energy by coal and is now slowly dropping coal usage (10% drop 2025) and this is what should have happened here.

I heard a statistic that there used to be about a million people in the UK involved with the coal industry. Now it's a few hundred. Obviously that had a big effect on some areas, but it is possible to change. I know Africa has its own challenges, but there will be big opportunities for renewables.

We see this and they cannot as they see loss of jobs and loss of foreign export money they can steal. The renewables is going to directly impact the SOE power supply revenue who have already been told to start cutting jobs. The government when seeking funding talks a good game, but have no intentions of actually doing anything. Next year we have a new President so the funds they already have will vanish into thin air and the incoming leader will try and get more funding.
