I think you know my opinion already. The rule of law is dead and gone. It's the new wild west and not just in the USA.
I was passing a Tesco store in Dublin a few weeks ago when two huge foreigners emerged with arms full of alcohol and crisps they'd stolen, followed by a tiny Indian security person who tried in vain to grab back some of the items, then gave up and went back inside. The police aren't even called anymore. If you have the balls, you can steal with impunity.

My son is always sending me news articles that describe the same type of scene in NYC. I'm stunned. My daughter is thinking of retiring in Ireland :))
She just needs to move to a right-leaning town in upstate NY, where many people are packing. That scene would never ever happen here.
She visited Ireland and loved it. Also, her grandparents came from Ireland. I think it's kind of a romantic notion she has. The reality of life might be quite different from her romantic notion.
My mother travelled a lot, and she said Ireland was her favorite place of them all.

I wouldn't advise it. It's very beautiful and if you can find any Irish people they are lovely but it's become extremely dangerous, particularly for women and especially in the cities. I remember as a child we could go years here without even one murder, now it's crime central with daily rapes and stabbings. Besides, housing is in very short supply so prices are through the roof.
Oh dear. Not the Ireland my in-laws left in the 1930s...
Evidence of the value of firearms in the hands of regular citizens. This would never happen in my town, where there are 8 guns per capita, from babies to nursing home residents. No one would dare. They would be shot by a concealed carry permit holder, quite likely the guy or gal behind the counter. There is very little crime here, other than drugs.
I'd kill for a gun:)
