It’s true that tourism in Thailand has changed a lot over the years. Many visitors notice the higher prices and fewer budget option now. I hope the government and local businesses can find ways to bring back the balance, keeping Thailand affordable and welcoming.

The government unfortunately is very unlikely to realize that cheap tourism is what made Thailand so attractive in the past. The leaders in their ivory towers have this crazy idea that they want only "quality" tourists that are going to come in, spend $10,000 in two weeks, and then leave. The real attraction to this country that the government just seems to ignore is that a lot of people want to come and live here half of the year for something like $2000 a month. That's just not very possible anymore.
