Research and a vision win people half a million in the lottery
In the world of bogus news there are few that I detest more than the "news" that is talking constantly about how easy it is to win huge sums of money in state lotteries. These scams are a tax on the poor and since advertising for them are for the most part, banned, the very people who are charged with regulating these things are apparently creating fake news stories to rile up some interest in people throwing away their money on lotto tickets.
These quite obvious advertisements are disguised as real news stories often with very dubious details and vague descriptions of the winners. While I cannot prove this and nobody would listen even if I could, the fact that there are "news" about lottery winners on a daily basis on several news aggregates speaks volumes because your chances of winning big prizes in the lottery are extremely small. Yet these news stories present the lottery as if it was something that you can research or just win by dumb luck.

I've noticed that these "news stories" often originate in Maryland, which I find to be one of the most awful states in the Union. No offense if you live there but my experience has been mostly bad. Maryland is able to offset what I believe to be high levels of poverty and low levels of education and literacy because of a few well-to-do communities that offset any averages in those fields.
Anyway, let's keep my personal feelings about Maryland to the side for now. The lotto stories frequently take place in Maryland and read like adverts rather than something that actually happened. In the "do your research" category an unnamed woman said that her and her husband check the online categories of which scratch-offs have the most prizes remaining and make their choices accordingly. Because of this research they ended up winning $500,000 and you can too!
No names are mentioned, no locations are mentioned, just some very vague story that is not only an advertisement for the Maryland lottery but also an ad for the website where you can check the remaining prizes. Both of these things would be illegal to advertise if you were running some sort of private lottery which of course would be illegal in itself because the government has the exclusive right to rip people off with most games of sheer chance and overwhelming odds of you losing.
Another man in South Carolina, a state that has absolutely massive lotteries, was sitting on his porch when a vision happened for him
"I had a vision, It told me to go and get a ticket at the Cracker Jack store, and I got two of them."
This unnamed man also won $500,000 because some sort of specter, presumably Jesus, told him to get some lottery tickets.
These winners, who are likely not even real people, always have some sort of noble thing they are going to do with their winnings such as help people in need and save for retirement. They also have very charitable plans in mind for sending relatives to college... How wonderful of these anonymous people!

I think one of the only people that was being honest about their intentions with the lottery money was this guy, who was asked by a live news broadcast what he would do with the money if he won and he said he would "spend it on cocaine and hookers."
I would imagine that if you spent any time reading what I write about in my various blogs that I have a certain level of disdain for two major enterprises in modern life: The media and the government. I particularly don't appreciate it when they team up to do something together that would land you in jail if you were to try to do it yourself.
Gambling is a very real problem in a lot of places in the world and while I do believe that a person should be responsible for their own outcome in life, I find it despicable that one of the only forms of gambling that is legal in nearly every part of the United States is the sort that the government sponsors and makes an absolute killing on the proceeds that originate mostly from the poorest members of society.
Don't play the lottery folks. It is all but guaranteed that you are going to lose, no matter how many bogus stories they concoct about so many winners that victory seems almost guaranteed.
