This week's episode of the @hiveghana. ghana community prompt is a relatable one as we all advocate change in different aspects of our societies. This has gotten really out of hand that there has been degradation in our economic and financial systems to the point that they affect our livelihood as humans. Although, Nigeria is a rich cultural nation that is vibrant, mismanagement of funds and values has contributed to its falling apart. So many areas of our society that need reforms are: governance, leadership, education, Healthcare, poverty, unemployment, gender inequality, security, Infractures, justice system and so many more.

From your point of view, what’s that one thing that you believe your society needs to change. Why do you think it needs to change? And what effects has it had on your society

Speaking of the educational system in my country, a lot of Reformation and infrastructures need to be put in place to ensure that students can learn properly and efficiently. These days the school system has so much loop holes, ranging from not having enough staffs in a school recently I went to a government School, one that I have known for the past 30 years and back then when the school was at its peak the government used to employ a maximum of 50 teachers in the school but recently they had not more than 15 teachers to cater for both junior secondary and senior secondary. This was so disheartening because it increases the workload of teachers and does not allow them to you perform their duties effectively. This is not farfetched because there are many graduates in the country who are looking for jobs but the government has seized employment opportunities rather than fixing people in these public schools so that they can be effective and learning can be open to everyone.

Another thing that can be changed in the educational system is the Reformation of outdated curriculas and poor fundings that are allocated to these schools. Most of these schools are dilapidated to the extent that students sit on the floor or cramp themselves in a class just to receive education. Changes can be made if the Federal Government allocated appropriate funds to these schools rather than enriching themselves and carrying out projects that are baseless and do not require that much money. If possible, the salary of these ministers, senators, governors and even the president should be slashed because the people that needs the money and the people that work diligently for the money are being underpaid.Hence, there should be effective Increase in the budgetary allocation with
genuine bodies to manage them.

In conclusion, if changes are made in these areas that affect the growth and development of students in public institutions, learning would be made easy and easily accessible to all. Because of the dilapidated situations of most public schools or institutions, parents are forced to send their kids to expensive private schools when their taxes are supposed to take care of the public and make it an efficient place to study. Most students get stressed out while trying to comprehend when they study. Hence, good infrastructures would also encourage learning such as building equipped libraries, Laboratories, suitable classrooms, restrooms and so on.
