Election Day Diaries
Hello my dear Hivers!
Now, I'm excited to share with you how my day went during election day.
Before that day came, I actually searched online about the platforms of the candidates I was planning to vote for. I wanted to choose someone who is right and capable of leading—not just for me, but also for the betterment of our barangay and our country. I even shared my thoughts with my sister about who I believed deserved our vote. While I was sharing my chosen candidates, my sister asked me some follow-up questions like "why them?" and that really sparked an interesting discussion between us—we both got really invested in the topic.
Now, enough with the flashback. Let me tell you what actually happened on the day itself.
My friends and I had already agreed to go in the afternoon so there wouldn't be too many people and the lines wouldn’t be too long. However, it turned out that my friends arrived late. So in the end, it was just me and my younger sibling who went together. One of the main reasons I originally wanted to go with my friends was because it was my first time voting in this area and I wasn’t familiar with the school. But they were delayed because the buses were so full that people had to stand—so they got held up.
My younger sibling and I just took a tricycle, which was actually convenient for us. We arrived there around 2PM. Although it was still quite hot at that time, it was bearable since we brought an umbrella.
When we arrived near the corner, we asked some people where the school was so we could vote. Luckily, a tricycle passed by and the driver asked, “Where are you headed? Are you going to vote? Just hop in—it’s a free ride today because it’s election day.” hence, we gladly accepted the offer and got on. As soon as we entered, we looked for our names to find out which room we were assigned to.
After finding our names, we went straight to our assigned voting room.
The voting process was actually nice and smooth because we didn’t have to keep standing—they had already prepared chairs where we could sit and just move forward once the person before us was done.
After we finished voting, they marked my right index finger with blue ink as proof that I had already cast my vote.
And that ends my voting experience, my dear Hivers!
