RE: Did American Eagle create this "controversy" to drive sales?

I've seen more people commenting on the stupidity of the "controversy" than spreading it, and the outrage I have seen is painfully shallow.

Apparently Levi's and Beyoncé had a big ad campaign recently, so the only possible conclusion is that AE is dog-whistling white supremacists to gaina competitive edge, I guess.

But seriously, aren't we supposed to avoid condemning and belittling people for their immutable characteristics?
