RE: Life Seems Surreal, Sometimes!

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

“It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.”—Thomas Sowell

"No one will really understand politics until they understand that politicians are not trying to solve our problems. They are trying to solve their own problems—of which getting elected and re-elected are number one and number two. Whatever is number three is far behind."—ibid.

The incentives of politics lead to corruption when they don't simply draw the corrupt in the first place. Good people don't tend to want power over others. Statesmen are a rare breed, and usually find themselves ostracized by their nominal parties when they insist on principles first.

Trump is just too narcissistic to maintain the typical illusion of legitimacy most try to keep erected.
