Nigeria Palava
Abuja has delivered yet another interesting moment. This time, it happened in the Gaduwa district where the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, confronted a young naval officer, Lt. A. M. Yerima, over a piece of land said to be under dispute.

Wike arrived at the site accusing the Navy of illegally taking over the land, which was reportedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff. But the young officer stood firm and respectfully told the minister that he was acting under clear orders from his superiors.
Their exchange, which was captured on video, quickly spread online and Nigerians immediately picked sides.

  • Some people praised Wike for trying to stop land grabbing in Abuja.
  • Others applauded the naval officer for his calmness, discipline, and professionalism despite the heated moment.
Adding to the discussion, the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, publicly defended the naval officer, saying he did nothing wrong and was simply following military protocol.
Right now, both the FCT minister and the Navy are reviewing documents to determine who truly owns the land.
Once again, Abuja reminds us of how power, authority, and land issues always find a way to collide—creating another chapter in Nigeria’s never-ending palaver.
