I heard they are also tightening the control over foreign workers especially from South East Asia too. Do you think that's also the scope of this policy as well? But yeah I am not sure if Japan could survive without foreign workers doing the blue collar jobs considering their aging population. Good luck navigating all these bureaucrazy, it's though but you can do it!

I think for short term work visa there won’t be any change. It’ll just make it more difficult for them to settle here long term. Japan always is very welcoming if you don’t want to stay here. They don’t want it to become multicultural and are trying very hard to prevent that.
They basically don’t want change (both the majority of people and the politicians) but obviously things change. The population decline could be solved easily by a push away from the city and towards the country. Instead they are trying to turn the country into a museum and garden just for sightseeing which…invites even more foreigners and makes life more difficult (centralization and no room for growth)
