How to Spot Fake News: "Russia Hacked the 2016 U.S. Election"
▶️ Watch on 3Speak - Odysee - BitChute - Rumble - YouTube (deleted for no reason) - PDF notes
The mainstream media, the Obama and Clinton campaign, and even the U.S. State and United Nations have been pushing the "fake news" narrative this entire year. And during and after the United States election cycle, the narrative has escalated to unbelievable heights. The "fake news" narrative is being used mostly to suppress opposing views, as well as cast a shadow of doubt as it regards to Donald Trump's presidency. But what is "fake news"?
In this video I go over a simple methodology to follow when trying to spot if a news article is "fake" or "real". This applies to all types of news, papers, books, and even scientific papers and literature. The methodology is shown below.
How Do You Spot "Fake News"?
- Read the headline.
- Read the article.
- Stop at the moment of each claim or "fact".
*The amount of research depends on how important verifying the claim is to you. - Research up where this "fact" originatesfrom.
- Judge for yourself how accurate the original "fact" is.
- Use your judgement to create a fitting headline.
- Also compare your judgement with the toneof the article.
*The amount of research depends on how important knowing the motives of the article are to you. - If the article does not align with your judgement, then research why that is.
- Make a conclusion.
To illustrate this methodology, I have gone over the example from The Washington Post article recently published:
Secret CIA assessment says Russia was trying to help Trump win White House: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/obama-orders-review-of-russian-hacking-during-presidential-campaign/2016/12/09/31d6b300-be2a-11e6-94ac-3d324840106c_story.html
In the article, the other widely spread narrative is pushed which is that the Russian government directly intervened into and influenced the U.S. elections in favor of Donald Trump. I explore this claim in great detail and show that the only "facts" to support this claim is the words of the CIA, which even then are broad and not definitive. On the other hand, I illustrate how it is extremely unlikely that the Russian government were involved in any significant way, as well as illustrate the motives and blatant conflicts of interest that Washington Post fail to clearly show the reading audience. Such conflicts of interest include the fact that the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, purchased the Washington Post in 2013 for $250 million, while at around the same time secured a contract worth $600 million over 10 years with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Not to mention, that the editorial board endorsed Hillary Clinton during the election campaign, further illustrating their conflict of interest.
This is an extremely important video for every one to see, as it illustrates the amount of infiltration and control that the CIA has over the media, thus turning it into a highly weaponized weapon. Make sure to watch this video!

Example:
Step 1: Headline
Secret CIA assessment says Russia was trying to help Trump win White House
Step 2: Read the Article
Step 3: Article Claims
Claim #1:
"The CIA has concluded in a secret assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump win the presidency, rather than just to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, according to officials briefed on the matter."
"Intelligence agencies have identified individuals with connections to the Russian government who provided WikiLeaks with thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and others, including Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, according to U.S. officials. Those officials described the individuals as actors known to the intelligence community and part of a wider Russian operation to boost Trump and hurt Clinton’s chances."
"“It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected,” said a senior U.S. official briefed on an intelligence presentation made to U.S. senators. “That’s the consensus view.”"
Step #4: Research the Claims
The article, itself, is the main source arguing mostly against the claim above:
"The Trump transition team dismissed the findings in a short statement issued Friday evening. “These are the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. The election ended a long time ago in one of the biggest Electoral College victories in history. It’s now time to move on and ‘Make America Great Again,’ ” the statement read."
"The CIA shared its latest assessment with key senators in a closed-door briefing on Capitol Hill last week, in which agency officials cited a growing body of intelligence from multiple sources. Agency briefers told the senators it was now “quite clear” that electing Trump was Russia’s goal, according to the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters."
"The CIA presentation to senators about Russia’s intentions fell short of a formal U.S. assessment produced by all 17 intelligence agencies. A senior U.S. official said there were minor disagreements among intelligence officials about the agency’s assessment, in part because some questions remain unanswered."
"For example, intelligence agencies do not have specific intelligence showing officials in the Kremlin “directing” the identified individuals to pass the Democratic emails to WikiLeaks, a second senior U.S. official said. Those actors, according to the official, were “one step” removed from the Russian government, rather than government employees. Moscow has in the past used middlemen to participate in sensitive intelligence operations so it has plausible deniability."
"Seven Democratic senators last week asked Obama to declassify details about the intrusions and why officials believe that the Kremlin was behind the operation. Officials said Friday that the senators specifically were asking the White House to release portions of the CIA’s presentation."
"This week, top Democratic lawmakers in the House also sent a letter to Obama, asking for briefings on Russian interference in the election."
"“I’ll be the first one to come out and point at Russia if there’s clear evidence, but there is no clear evidence — even now,” said Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and a member of the Trump transition team. “There’s a lot of innuendo, lots of circumstantial evidence, that’s it.”"
"Though Russia has long conducted cyberspying on U.S. agencies, companies and organizations, this presidential campaign marks the first time Moscow has attempted through cyber-means to interfere in, if not actively influence, the outcome of an election, the officials said."
"Though U.S. intelligence agencies were skeptical that hackers would be able to manipulate the election results in a systematic way, the White House feared that Russia would attempt to do so, sowing doubt about the fundamental mechanisms of democracy and potentially forcing a more dangerous confrontation between Washington and Moscow."
"In a secure room in the Capitol used for briefings involving classified information, administration officials broadly laid out the evidence U.S. spy agencies had collected, showing Russia’s role in cyber-intrusions in at least two states and in hacking the emails of the Democratic organizations and individuals."
"And they made a case for a united, bipartisan front in response to what one official described as “the threat posed by unprecedented meddling by a foreign power in our election process.”"
"The Democratic leaders in the room unanimously agreed on the need to take the threat seriously. Republicans, however, were divided, with at least two GOP lawmakers reluctant to accede to the White House requests."
"According to several officials, McConnell raised doubts about the underlying intelligence and made clear to the administration that he would consider any effort by the White House to challenge the Russians publicly an act of partisan politics."
"McConnell’s office did not respond to a request for comment. After the election, Trump chose McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, as his nominee for transportation secretary."
Putin Denies Russian Involvement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XrgU0n66N0
Julian Assange denies Russian Involvement: https://youtu.be/_sbT3_9dJY4?t=2m41s
"Craig Murray, the former UK ambassador to Uzbekistan, who is a close associate of Assange, called the CIA claims “bullshit”, adding: “They are absolutely making it up.”"
“I know who leaked them,” Murray said. “I’ve met the person who leaked them, and they are certainly not Russian and it’s an insider. It’s a leak, not a hack; the two are different things.
“If what the CIA are saying is true, and the CIA’s statement refers to people who are known to be linked to the Russian state, they would have arrested someone if it was someone inside the United States.
“America has not been shy about arresting whistleblowers and it’s not been shy about extraditing hackers. They plainly have no knowledge whatsoever.”
U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) Statement on Russian Involvement: https://www.dhs.gov/news/2016/10/07/joint-statement-department-homeland-security-and-office-director-national
"The U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) is confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of e-mails from US persons and institutions, including from US political organizations. The recent disclosures of alleged hacked e-mails on sites like DCLeaks.com and WikiLeaks and by the Guccifer 2.0 online persona are consistent with the methods and motivations of Russian-directed efforts. These thefts and disclosures are intended to interfere with the US election process. Such activity is not new to Moscow—the Russians have used similar tactics and techniques across Europe and Eurasia, for example, to influence public opinion there. We believe, based on the scope and sensitivity of these efforts, that only Russia's senior-most officials could have authorized these activities."
"Some states have also recently seen scanning and probing of their election-related systems, which in most cases originated from servers operated by a Russian company. However, we are not now in a position to attribute this activity to the Russian Government. The USIC and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) assess that it would be extremely difficult for someone, including a nation-state actor, to alter actual ballot counts or election results by cyber attack or intrusion. This assessment is based on the decentralized nature of our election system in this country and the number of protections state and local election officials have in place. States ensure that voting machines are not connected to the Internet, and there are numerous checks and balances as well as extensive oversight at multiple levels built into our election process."

What do "Connections to Russia" mean, exactly?
Cash Flowed to Clinton Foundation Amid Russian Uranium Deal - The New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/24/us/cash-flowed-to-clinton-foundation-as-russians-pressed-for-control-of-uranium-company.html
"As the Russians gradually assumed control of Uranium One in three separate transactions from 2009 to 2013, Canadian records show, a flow of cash made its way to the Clinton Foundation. Uranium One’s chairman used his family foundation to make four donations totaling $2.35 million. Those contributions were not publicly disclosed by the Clintons, despite an agreement Mrs. Clinton had struck with the Obama White House to publicly identify all donors. Other people with ties to the company made donations as well."
"And shortly after the Russians announced their intention to acquire a majority stake in Uranium One, Mr. Clinton received $500,000 for a Moscow speech from a Russian investment bank with links to the Kremlin that was promoting Uranium One stock."
"When the Uranium One deal was approved, the geopolitical backdrop was far different from today’s. The Obama administration was seeking to “reset” strained relations with Russia. The deal was strategically important to Mr. Putin, who shortly after the Americans gave their blessing sat down for a staged interview with Rosatom’s chief executive, Sergei Kiriyenko. “Few could have imagined in the past that we would own 20 percent of U.S. reserves,” Mr. Kiriyenko told Mr. Putin."

Do Bill and Hillary Clinton have "connections" to Russia?
Fox News' Tucker Carlson interview with Rep. Adam Schiff, California Democrat House of Representative, on Russia's possible election involvement: https://youtu.be/DZwC3NfH84o?t=5m46s
Adam Schiff won't claim specifically that Russia hacked Podesta emails.
Step 5: Accuracy of the Claims
The claim that the Russia deliberately intervened in the 2016 U.S. elections is based on the following:
- A secret, closed-door, briefing by unnamed CIA officials to U.S. senators on Capitol Hill.
- A "growing body of intelligence from multiple sources".
- Individuals involved had "connections" to the Russian government.
- No specific evidence that Russia directed individuals to leak emails to Wikileaks, but argue that "middleman" may have been used.
The CIA Assessment has not been released to the public.
The claim of direct Russian involvement in undermining the 2016 U.S. elections is based strictly on word of the CIA.
Step 6: Accuracy of Headline
Current Headline:
Secret CIA assessment says Russia was trying to help Trump win White House
My Headline:
Without providing any evidence, CIA says Russia helped Trump win White House
Another possible headline:
In secret closed-door briefing, CIA says Russia helped Trump win, zero evidence otherwise
Another satirical headline:
When all else fails, blame Russia
Step 7: Accuracy of Tone of Article
The tone of the article leaned towards Russia certainly being involved, despite any clear evidence.
The music in the videos in the article, convey some sort of secret Russian plot.
The tone presented by the writers does not represent the actual facts provided in the article.
The length of the article was also too long, again because of the lack of any evidence.
Step 8: Article Motives.
2006 Audio Emerges of Hillary Clinton Proposing Rigging Palestine Election: https://youtu.be/U-W-SYn-uhk?t=8s and http://nation.foxnews.com/2016/10/28/2006-audio-emerges-hillary-clinton-proposing-rigging-palestine-election
The audio tape shows clear evidence of Hillary Clinton wanting to rig Palestinian elections, so why does Washington Post not write about it?
The Washington Post posting fake news:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/russian-propaganda-effort-helped-spread-fake-news-during-election-experts-say/2016/11/24/793903b6-8a40-4ca9-b712-716af66098fe_story.html?utm_term=.c07cf38d184e
After complaints, Washington Post added an Editor's Note that states they don't actually believe the findings of "experts" which they published:
"Editor’s Note: The Washington Post on Nov. 24 published a story on the work of four sets of researchers who have examined what they say are Russian propaganda efforts to undermine American democracy and interests. One of them was PropOrNot, a group that insists on public anonymity, which issued a report identifying more than 200 websites that, in its view, wittingly or unwittingly published or echoed Russian propaganda. A number of those sites have objected to being included on PropOrNot’s list, and some of the sites, as well as others not on the list, have publicly challenged the group’s methodology and conclusions. The Post, which did not name any of the sites, does not itself vouch for the validity of PropOrNot’s findings regarding any individual media outlet, nor did the article purport to do so. Since publication of The Post’s story, PropOrNot has removed some sites from its list."

CIA has a contract with Amazon worth $600 million: http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2014/07/the-details-about-the-cias-deal-with-amazon/374632/ [JUL 17, 2014]
The intelligence community is about to get the equivalent of an adrenaline shot to the chest. This summer, a $600 million computing cloud developed by Amazon Web Services for the Central Intelligence Agency over the past year will begin servicing all 17 agencies that make up the intelligence community.
In early 2013, after weighing bids from Amazon Web Services, IBM and an unnamed third vendor, the CIA awarded a contract to AWS worth up to $600 million over a period of up to 10 years. The deal, handled in secret, was first reported by FCW in March 2013, sending ripples through the tech industry.

Operation Mocking Bird: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Mockingbird
"Operation Mockingbird was a campaign by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to influence media during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. Begun in the 1950s, it was initially organized by Cord Meyer and Allen W. Dulles, and was later led by Frank Wisner after Dulles became the head of the CIA. The organization recruited leading American journalists into a propaganda network to help present the CIA's views. It funded some student and cultural organizations and magazines as fronts. As it developed, it also worked to influence foreign media and political campaigns, in addition to activities by other operating units of the CIA. The CIA's use of journalists continued unabated until 1973, when the program was scaled back, finally coming to a halt in 1976 when George H.W. Bush took over as director."
A Review of the FBI’s Impersonation of a Journalist in a Criminal Investigation: https://oig.justice.gov/reports/2016/o1607.pdf
"…in October 2014, The Seattle Times published an article that disclosed the fact that an FBI employee posed as a member of the news media when it contacted and then identified the subject as the author of the bomb threats. Later that same month the AP sent a letter to then-Attorney General Eric Holder protesting the FBI’s impersonation of a member of the news media in connection with the FBI’s investigation of the bomb threats. In addition, several newspapers wrote articles questioning the tactics the FBI used to identify and arrest the subject who sent the threats."
"One week later, on November 6, 2014, FBI Director James Comey wrote a letter to the editor of The New York Times defending the FBI’s actions. In particular, Comey stated that the “technique [the FBI used to identify and apprehend the individual who sent the threats] was proper and appropriate under Justice Department and F.B.I. guidelines at the time” and that “[t]oday, the use of such an unusual technique would probably require higher level approvals than in 2007, but it would still be lawful and, in a rare case, appropriate.” "
Here is the story: http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/fbi-created-fake-seattle-times-web-page-to-nab-bomb-threat-suspect/
"The FBI in Seattle created a fake news story on a bogus Seattle Times web page to plant software in the computer of a suspect in a series of bomb threats to Lacey’s Timberline High School in 2007, according to documents obtained by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) in San Francisco."

By Editorial Board [October 13]

Step 9: Conclusion
It is clear that Washington Post has the following conflicts of interest:
- Endorsing Hillary Clinton for President
- Owner Jeff Bezos owns Amazon, which has a large contract with the CIA.
- And needless to say: click-bait, website traffic, ad revenue, etc.
Washington Post have already had to retract findings they cited indicating Russian involvement in the U.S. elections.
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) have a long history of infiltrating and manipulating the media.
Given the CIA history of media control, the acquisition of Washington Post by Jeff Bezos is a strong factor for the CIA awarding the contract to Amazon.
It appears that the Clinton / Obama campaign may do whatever it takes to stop Donald Trump from assuming the White House.
The article wants us to believe that the CIA is correct in accusing a nuclear-armed power of directly undermining the U.S. elections in favor of one candidate, which if such a statement were true would certainly lead to a confrontation between of Russia, and the United States of America.
A serious claim demands serious evidence, which so far, none has been given.
This is FAKE NEWS, and extremely dangerous fake news…
