The Greatest Dual Ever - Lore

(Edited)

A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far far away in gamer space, there was a chat room, courtesy of Iceland actually, Intergalactic Summit, in Eve Online, and many, in the role-playing community of old, used to congregate there.

RP in Eve Online is actually quite rare, in general, its just a game of psychopaths and sociopaths all vying for power and dominance, but, that’s why the game is called EvE (Everyone vs Everyone)

Fun fact, its actually a Submarine game, or was, initially.

It is comprised of the salt of the earth, and the deadliest mother truckers you never want to cross in a dark ally, and we all get on, and were all friends.

You can tell a true eve OG if they will talk to their enemies, I am, and always have been GalMil but, when the sporting match is over, or whatever, we do actually dock up and chat with CalMil, you spend all your time fighting each other, at one point or another you realise the existence of yourself revolves around each side, and you actually become “frenemies” at certain times, and certain locations.

GalMil and CalMil run into each other in warspace, well, its on like donkey kong (as the saying goes) high sec, chilling in Amarr (where neither of us have any business being) well, drinks at the pub and all the more to Empress Cat

Psychological analogy here from gamer land, back in the day, this intergalactic summit, I was challenged and engaged in a dual.

By a woman, who was the enemy, and will remain un-named, I do know the name, but its impolite, to name someone.

She commented, that my reliance, on Gallente Ships was my downfall, and that I would do better to fly (remember in eve we use the term fly, but we mean sail – space vernacular is a mix of both Airforce and Naval)

Her point was (and I assure you it was a she, not a catfish – at one point in time, I could confirm that, but never would, that would be illegal) that just because it’s a Caldari ship, does not mean you cant fly it, and she noted, that if you fly it, its your faction.

This – is a fundamental philosophy I still hold to this day.

We didn’t fight on the battlefield, we fought in the world of wordsmiths, and she absolutely brought me near to the brink of death, this woman, master swordsmith, of her craft, and then she stopped, right at the point she could have killed me, she stopped and asked me a question

“What have you learned”

And I responded, but I don’t remember the words, but I lived, beaten, bruised, battered, with a smack down of philosophical wisdom from the Caldari, very shortly after, my entire Doctrine changed, and I appropriated Caldari Technology in part for my Naval ambitions, often in isolation, with builds and fits that have never seen the light of day.

The point is, when you get in the cockpit, when you command the helm, its your factions technology, reverse engineering is a thing, so to is appropriation, and it’s a valid combative, technological strategy.

This is to say, my high tech equipment, just failed, and despite all the latest and greatest AI of the planet, YouTube videos or otherwise I could not get it to work, no matter how hard I tried (despite the fact it did work until I did a driver update) so I went to buy the technology of the enemy, which still did not work, in the way I wanted.

But I took it, and appropriated it, and found a work around.

This is what we call, adaptive intelligence, perhaps, the cutting edge, doesn’t work, because you just can’t figure it out, for whatever reason, but you can just reduce the matter to analog , or have it change its entire operating system, and suddenly hey presto, it works.

And now, even the things I had trouble with this morning, just work, so, you know the simplest solution, to how I worked this out years ago, you just wear two sets of headphones over the top of each other and have really good Aural skills. One on one ear, one on the other.

Call it daft, call it old school, call it whatever you want, but it works

Chinese Technology, with a bit of Japanese Innovation and an Australian Touch.

And now as a result, I have a combination of technology that is infinitely and vastly more powerful than any part ever intended.

And you can hack that any six ways from Sunday you want, remember, I do have an antenna, Radio, is, wonderful, even this day and age.

Sometimes, you got to go low tech to go high tech people, but remember, what you use, is your own.

This is to say, what you use, is your own, is your own faction, is your own nations, once you appropriate it, do not let things blind you to that, and that is true, of everyone, everywhere.

Valuable and respected trading partner, but please, don’t do that to our waters again, a polite request, its very offensive, we would not do that to you, please do not do so to us, now as a result, you have a shade active, and shade ships being developed, counter response, shall we not calm the farm?

Ahh but the story, do you know what we did, after she nearly killed me, we had a drink and got down, (digitally) and then we both ghosted each other because it was weird, but what she taught me, I have never forgotten,

Japan <3
China, old tiger, be calm
Australia, bout that emu war …

Listen people, I don’t eat several things.

A. Kangaroo
B. Emu
If its on the coat of arms, you don’t eat it, that’s my world view, plus it has parasites most of the time , god I ate crocodile one time at sea, nearly killed me, or maybe that was just what it ate, PEOPLE of the WORLD – avoid croc waters in Aus, they will be snappin, we don’t want to be finding your bones 80 years later in a croc stomach, AVOID those old dinosaurs be dangerous, DANGER DANGER as the man would say, maybe some people like eating them, to me it was like my stomach was turning inside out, never been more sick, hid it well though! But hey anything once.

C. Octopus
a. I do eat squid, (pun very much intended caldari) but never octopus, they are to smart, I respect them so never would, squid on the other hand, well octopus eat squid all the time, even giant squid! But never octopus, they are friend, and very smart ocean species of animal
i. Squid, is delicious, but I would never eat Octopus – not because I cant, but because it just doesn’t seem right, I wouldn’t eat an elephant either, these things are smart, you don’t eat smart things.
