I do not have winters like you have BUT it gets cold enough here for me to hate it as much as I hate hurricanes.

I suppose we each grow accustomed to dealing with the weather where we live. You would not be at all happy with a blizzard, and I would have no idea how to cope with a hurricane.
Nope, I want no part of a blizzard, I'll take a hurricane any day over one of those.
