Socialism in America?/アメリカで社会主義？

In January of this year, Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim and self-proclaimed democratic socialist, became mayor of New York City. Katie Wilson, also a self-proclaimed socialist, became mayor of Seattle. Both candidates share a common goal: taxing the wealthy.

Mamdani's campaign promises included freezing rents, free buses, and municipal supermarkets.

This likely resonated with citizens truly struggling to make ends meet.

John Steinbeck, the Nobel Prize-winning American author, once said:

Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

It came to America after the failure of socialism in the Soviet Union.

Well, whether humans approve of it or not, the earth is saying that it's unacceptable for its nature to be destroyed by capitalism's unbridled pursuit of profit.

I want to tell my father, who is nearing the end of his life, that the world is finally becoming the way he always said it would.
