Caracas will be giving Washington “everything that we feel is necessary” and the US would remain a political overlord there for an indefinite period. We’re going to be using their oil, we’re going to be taking their oil and we will rebuild their oil industry in a very profitable way for us. Because we built Venezuela oil industry with American talent, drive, and skill. And the socialist regime stole it from us during those previous administrations.

Venezuela would only buy US-made products with the profits it makes from any deal with Washington to sell oil. Venezuela is going to be purchasing ONLY American Made Products, with the money they receive from our new Oil Deal. Hence, the Trump administration will manage Venezuela's oil sales indefinitely, deposit revenue in U.S. government accounts and use the leverage to reshape the country with no established plan for elections.

Chris Wright, the US energy secretary, said: "We’re going to market the crude coming out of Venezuela. Probably there would be room for China to have a role in Venezuela’s commercial relations, but only as long as the US remained the dominant force there. And within that framework where Venezuela’s main partner is the US, then can there be commerce with China. But we are not going to allow Venezuela to become a client state of China. Absolutely not"

In an interview on Fox News to the Deputy Director of the White House Policy Cabinet Stephen Miller, he said:
"We live in a world, in the real world that is governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power. So, by definition we are in charge of Venezuela. We set the terms and conditions there and we have a complete embargo on all of their oil and their ability to do commerce. So for them to do commerce they need our permission. For them to be able to run an economy, they need our permission, therefore the United States is in charge. The United States is indeed running the country during this transition period"

In another interview on Fox News, the US vice-president, JD Vance, said: "Venezuela would be able to sell its oil only if it served the interests of Washington. We control the energy resources there, and we tell the regime that they’re allowed to sell the oil so long as they serve America’s national interest. They’re not allowed to sell it if they can’t serve America’s national interest. The only oil transported in and out of Venezuela will be through approved channels consistent with US law and our national security interests"

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that “run” means running policy, but won’t specify a timeline or rule out a U.S. occupation of Venezuela. We want Venezuela to move in a certain direction because not only do we think it’s good for the people of Venezuela, it’s in our national interest. Mr. Rubio refused to provide a timeline for American involvement or specify what the administration’s ultimate objectives are in Venezuela. Mr. Rubio also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to enforcing what he called an “oil quarantine” and said elections would not be held in Venezuela in the near term.
