New York City Stares Down a Care Crisis as Haitian TPS Expires
The end of U.S. work authorizations for hundreds of thousands of Haitians is threatening to leave short-staffed nursing homes, hospitals and home-care agencies with even fewer caregivers.
Employment permits for more than 350,000 people covered by Temporary Protected Status could begin expiring Friday after last month’s Supreme Court ruling allowed the Trump administration to end programs for Haitian and Syrian nationals. The exact timeline may depend on further action by immigration authorities and courts, but employers have little choice but to begin removing affected workers from their payrolls.

Since Donald Trump returned to office, the number of CIA employees who said they are concerned that the objectivity of analysis is being undermined by political influence has gone up significantly, according to the survey, which is conducted annually by the agency’s ombudsman for analytic integrity. The results haven’t been made public, but they were described to me by several people familiar with them.”
It’s not clear how many of the thousands of career employees involved in producing reports, briefings, and other materials for the president and his advisers responded. But their comments show how acutely some of them feel pressured to reach preferred outcomes instead of following the facts wherever they lead.

Until a few days ago, the Palm Beach International Airport in South Florida was still called the Palm Beach International Airport. Now it’s the President Donald J. Trump International Airport, after a law that his pal and governor of Florida Ron DeSantis signed back in March took effect. Its old logo looked like a riff on Disney’s. Its new one, first revealed by Eric Trump in May, is clearly meant to be a transmogrified Great Seal, rendered — of course — in Trump’s favorite color: gold.
Look past its gaudiness, though, and you’ll notice some things that’re a little off in the finer details.
