The Acolyte (2024) - Episode 4: Day - RECAP

Source

Episode 4 of The Acolyte had again another batch of background of how things went down with the Coven of Witches as the information becomes basically public at Coruscant at the Jedi Council, Sol and others who knew what happen can't hide it anymore but as we have seen before Master Sol does not know much of what really went down since he was busy trying to get to Osha during the entire accident. This serie is still not as good as any of the other Star Wars series, it almost feels like this is the Marvel Secret Invasion of Star Wars, not that it is that bad but certainly could be way better.

I have mention before how the series is more of a suspense series than action since it only gives short moments of action sequences but this time I think they just went too far with the ending of the episode at totally cutting off what seem to be the start of a battle, the mysterious Sith Master against six Jedi who he blow out with a single move of his hand using The Force.

I think the series is trying hard to make it obvious that the Sith Master is Qimir but then again it would be just too easy and probably that's what the series wants although at this point I have no idea who else could and at the same time have a lot of scenes and details that validate my suspicious that its Qimir. On this article I will go through a couple of thoughts and ideas of what is going on.

The Episode's Opening

The episode kicks off with a scene on Khofar, where we see Kelnacca, the Wookiee Jedi, in his secluded hideout. The visuals here are pretty impressive with the dense forest and the sense of isolation really setting the mood. Kelnacca's hom made from the wreckage of a ship, adds a layer of mystery. Is it his ship or did he find it? The symbols on the walls, resembling yin yang drawings hint at the balance between the dark and light sides of the Force, a recurring theme in Star Wars. I would only guess that this symbols were draw by Kelnacca probably reflecting of what happen the day the Covenant of Witches were slaughter, some of the drawings are very similar also to the simbol Mae got on her forhead during the ceremony, either feeling guilty for wipe them out of not able to defend them assuming that all this time the Sith Master has been trying to get to the twins, keep in mind that the Twins are special and have a deep connection with The Force so why not weaponize them.

The Jedi's Mission

Master Sol convience Vernestra Rwoh to let him go to Khofar look for Kelnecca and bring back Mae, at first she was not too sure of this but then decided its worth the risk as long as they keep it low profile. Before they left, Osha was already planing to get back to her regular life and take a ship out of Coruscant before Master Sol got to her and ask her to come with them to bring back Mae, Osha was expecting he was going to ask her to stay and once again train for Jedi but Sol turn her down real quick asking her to come to Khofar with him, Osha look very needy on this scene even telling him that she can feel her power coming back like she still wants to be a Jedi but what happen between her and Mae is still in between, same reason why she drop Jedi training the first time.

Mae and Qimir's Quest

Jedi were not the only ones going to Khofar, there is also Qimir and Mae after Kelnacca, as we already know Mae target is to kill all Jedi who were there the day the Covenant of Witches was killed and she was left to die, that's her mission but specially the very specific way she has to do it, have a Jedi attack her first and she been without a weapon, a behavior that goes against the Jedi rules its probably like make a Jedi abandon his believe in a rage attack. Qimir still my number one candidate to be the Sith Master, he still acting the fool but cautiosly and gently keep pushing Mae to finish her task or the Sith Master will kill her, in a way trying to say I WILL KILL YOU!!! What I still don't get why is the Sith Master so fixed into having her kill all four Jedi, might be some sort of prophecy or as I mention potentially weaponize her power and turn her into the Dark Force.

Mae and Qimir figure out the Jedi and Osha are in Khofar and she start to have doubts about her tasks, either if she could complete it but what changes everything for her is that Osha is alive, yes she has some hate for Jedi but her sister is more important and decides to drop her Sith Training and get Jedi protection telling them everything she knows, well at least that was her plan before the Sith Master step up to the scene.

Osha Development

On episode four Osha starts to develop this bond to both the Jedi that at first wanted to lock her down that's Yord and Jecki, at first during the episode before Osha goes she stop to say good bye to Jecki and how she will miss her and sometime would like to have a drink with her. Latter on when they get to Khofar she tells Yord that if he gets the chance and need to, kill Mae because she knows she wont be able to do it, this is right after he ask for the blaster back and Osha said no, Osha already failed at taking Mae down, she knows she cant.

Osha desperatly wants to be a Jedi and its kinda obvious that towards the end of the season she probably start her Jedi training again when she gets back with Mae, if the Sith Master has not kill her first. Osha told Master Sol how she is feeling her powers are getting back and probably when everyone needs her Osha will show up her powers, remember how the Twins are suppose to be special at using The Force, mostly when using it together.

Sith Master

The identity of the Sith master is a major point of speculation. The episode drops several hints that it could be Qimir, but nothing is confirmed. His ability to switch between different personas and his knowledge of the dark side make him a prime suspect. The final scene, where the Sith master force-pushes the Jedi and prepares for battle, is a powerful moment that leaves us wanting more.

The identity of the Sith Master is still a mystery but I do have a lot of suggestions why is Qimir, during this episode he reminds Mae of every detail of her training, why does he knows so much about it? he mention before that he does not know the Sith Master personally when Master Sol and the other Jedi got to him on episode 2. He still acting the fool and even let Mae trap him probably to throw her off and make her think she is on control, lastly he had a lot of luggage when they arrive Khofar so whats on the bag? probably an armor and big Sith Helmet?? for last, the forest is suppose to be dangerous place and why Kelnecca got deep into the forest so how a weak guy like Qimir track Kelnecca down and got out of the forest alive??

Political Powers

Its been mention many times online that the series does have some reference to movies and animated series and could connect to them in the future, often the Star Wars universe is build this way where its a going back and forward during the history. On episode four Vernestra told Sol they have to keep the high council out of this after they were discussing who is Mae master, for sure she has some training but still look weak, nobody in the room said a Sith train her, the only one speculating this is Sol. Vernestra decides to cover up this because the entire Sith Master with Mae could be leverage from a higher political power that would try to gain advantage by exposing Jedi like they are weak and cant be trusted the peace and security of the galaxy, a political strategic move so dark forces can gain more political power.

As time goes and I watch each episodes, recaps online and some reviews I'm starting to learn more about Star Wars, no intentions to be an expert or even impose my opinion of the subject but I have realize that at keeping everything a mystery the series actually spark that curiosity of an average viewer like me to figure out what is going on and how the series relate to other parts of the Star Wars Universe, from that point of view the series has been really good because its all about discovering who is this Sith Master since day one.

The action sequence, to be honest I'm very disappointed, specially on this episode when the get Kelnacca killed like its nothing and then stop the big fight right when it start leaving a big cliff hanger, I got mad to the point that I was laughing because I could not believe they troll everyone like that, we are only half way of the season so I hope from now on the series redeem itself on the action sequence department.
