UFC at the White House? I guess!
As someone that mostly sits out anything political I can say that I don't really care if the UFC has an event at the White House or not. I am sure there are going to be plenty of people on the television that say that it is the best thing ever or the worst abuse of power in the history of mankind no matter what happens and all of these people are lying and probably don't know a damn thing about combat sports.
For me, I think it is fine that they are having this, but I also think that they are going to make a real mess for themselves and probably annoy the shit out of Secret Service if the event does go forward.

People are going to lose their minds over this because it is no secret that Trump and Dana White are pals and they are both conservatives. Also, a vast majority of MMA participants are conservative or at the minimum they are pretending to be for the sake of the advancement of their careers

Trump is greeted at these things with huge applause and when someone wins a fight, they are always trying to get close to him to shake his hand. I am sure that Secret Service absolutely loves it when someone jumps the fence and heads in DJT's direction... I wonder how many of those guys it would take to bring down Jon Jones? My money would be 1 agent, because: guns.
Anyway, I think that it is ok that the White House wants to have an event on the grounds but aren't they asking for a bunch of trouble by doing this? If it is an invite only thing, then the real fans will be excluded, if it is open to the public, I can't even imagine the extra amount of security stuff that everyone involved is going to have to go through. Not just the people that want to be in the stands, but also anyone involved in filming, catering, concessions, the refs, the ring-girls, the coaches, all of that is going to be made much more complicated and I just kind of wonder if it is really worth it.
If he really wants it he can probably make it happen. Trump probably does really want it because he most likely is very interested in being the first President to ever host a sporting event at the White House. I often wonder if he actually enjoys the sport as he claims, or if he is just using it because the fans seem to love him, as do the fighters and the fighters' boss Dana White.
I think it would be a lot smarter, if the UFC truly does want to be involved in the special July 4th event that is next year's one, that they just have the UFC event in Washigton DC perhaps at the Redskins stadium or even the Wizards. Does it really need to be on the White House lawn?
If they can pull it off I will be ok with it, and if they change it or end up not having and UFC event at all I will also be ok with that.

I don't get involved in politics and my interest in UFC and MMA has been waning for the past year or so as well. So I guess you could say that I don't really care if they get this done or not.
I also think it is more about Trump wanting to be the first holding a sporting event at the White House. I find it quite humorous how people react to these political moves.
well even though I don't really get involved in politics I think yes, it is about his legacy more than it is about the people or the sport. It is funny and extremely sad how involved people get in their opinions about this man though. Dumb is a word I am thinking of as well.
