As always, late and poorly...

We haven't emerged from a rampant inflationary crisis in Europe yet, and our good leaders are already planning an investment of 800 billion euros to rearm...
It's still not clear how they're going to do it. There's talk of each member country increasing defense spending from their own budgets... there's talk of the European Central Bank issuing (printing) more money to cover the new budgetary requirement; there's talk of creating repayable "soft" loans for European states to spend jointly on pan-European capabilities such as missiles, ammunition, air defense, drones, and other needs such as cybersecurity or mobility...
Obviously, all based on debt, money that will never be fully repaid, and if it is repaid, it will be through citizen contributions and most likely through inflation.

Just today, "Germany votes on a 500 billion debt increase."

That is, inflation and tax increases...

It's clear that Europe can't continue as it has these past few decades. We were naive to believe we could simply demilitarize under the umbrella of NATO... something many of us already thought was unrealistic.
Time is slowly putting things back in their place. It "only" took three years of war in the UKRAINE and for TRUMP to say some of his nonsense for us to take our own defense seriously...
As always, we're late and poorly... hallelujah!
Personally, I have to admit that, on an economic level, this new horizon doesn't hurt me. My defense ETF is breaking new records day after day, even though it goes against my own conscience, since I consider myself a pacifist, though not naive...
But it's clear that if we invest public money in weapons or defense, we don't invest in development, for which we will pay dearly in the future.

I belive this rearm is just a way to eat more money, we are cutting welfare, research and everything but we need money for a non existent enemy... I heard they will take money from people's bank account, how much can we go down, Europe is doomed

What do you think is the alternative here? The way things are shaping up, a multi-polar world with multi power armies across the regions is becoming very obvious. The NATO security umbrella is not there any more.

I don't see any other alternative; I'm just critical of the way they're doing it. This has been coming for a long time; it's unbelievable that we have to go to this extreme to realize it.

I get the point. May be the whole world was still hoping to get the system based structured American leadership. Instead, Trump won the election and implementing policies based on his own erratic (?) views. Not sure how this will impact the US and the whole globe but there is one certain thing- a chaotic and multipolar world where defense is a number one priority. Globalism is done.

Well, here came a naive one with world economic happenings and situations. Well, I gained some insight in worlds present situation from your post and that’s a win for me. Meanwhile what’s a pacifist?

Talk of investing money in arms than in development am also thinking is just one of their numerous tactics to syphone money cos who are we fighting?

I though it was just in my country that the government would borrow money for useless projects while the main things that should be developed to make life easy for the citizens are much neglected.
