Education's purpose, at least in it's modern incarnation, is indoctrination, and that is intended to produce mindless followers. This is why midwits with degrees gatekeep so hard, defending their illusion of being learned by arguing from authority rather than fact. That, in turn, is why science is so deprecated by dogmatic consensus and the irreproducibility of the majority of published research today.
