The Illusion of Governance.

This topic is a deep one, and as a Nigerian that I am, from what I have seen, heard, experienced and all, I can say that the government of this nation is a government of the rich, by the rich and for the rich. Believe me, it is the truth. From the way you see them talk about the law and how that nobody is above the law, to how you see them commit various attrocities and the law wouldn't hold them accountable. That will make you know that all of these things and everything being done, including the policies are meant to protect some people—the rich.

It's been a while since I sat down to watch the news, but from the few I do come across or the ones I read on my phone, I do see announcements of various new policies, rules, laws and all, and we find out that the average man has no say in these things. Take the tax law for instance, what has the average Nigerian able to do about it. You hear the government say all what they are doing is for national growth, economic stability and the likes, yet they have been doing that for years and nothing has changed, talk about light, recently the national grid still has to undergo a surgical operation and you think these people really care about us. They know what they are doing when this see them pump money into big industries, banks and all, and they still go in approving and disbursing funds into their own personal accounts. Yet, the citizens they claim to be serving are wallowing in poverty, the citizens they claim to be doing everything for can't afford to use the hospital since either the doctors are on strike or there are no instruments to carry out an exercise.

Come to think of it, it's just the truth, when these banks and industries are going through crises, you see the government come through for them, but when their citizens complain of something we are being told endure or better still, they turn a deaf ear to our plea. This government isn't working for everyone, it's only working for a set of people who are in power. I wouldn't even agree to say that they are pouring money into hospitals and schools, because if they truly are, then why do doctors and medical practitioners keep going on strikes, why can't they as well stay here and get treated of their ailments, why can't their own children attend the schools here. Any small thing like headaches, you will see them flying abroad, their wards to school abroad, and that made it so obvious that the system isn't even working, because it is, why can't they trust it, why cant they stay.

All of these funds they are using to treat themselves and train there wards abroad are public funds, meant to make the life and living conditions of the common man calm, peaceful and bearable. Fuel subsidy was removed and remember they said it was for the betterment of the country, still we have nothing, absolutely nothing to show for it, things only got more worse. And the rich always know their way around these things, only the common man/the poor have to suffer it and face it head on. We call it corruption, but then it is way more than that, the system is one that has been designed in a way to protect the wealthy, and whatever policies they make is always to secure the interest of those that are in power/are wealthy.

I believe things can and will get better, with time, and with us not keeping mute. Leaders really need to feel what we feel too, they should experience blackout for a whole month without access to a solar light or generator and see what it feels like, they should be placed on the minimum wage as well and see how they will feed their families and pay bills.

The government is really by the rich and for the rich, not for the people, and by the people, the rich do whatever they feel like, and it is as if they are above the law. I wonder why little things like good health facilities, schools and other social amenities are far fetched fot our government.

Well, it just happened to be where we find ourselves. And it even seems we the citizens aren't too bothered, we only shout and refuse to take actions.

Thanks a lot for stopping by.
