Five Questions on a Victorious Sunday
This morning, eating my tofu scramble of toast, I thought, wow, Dutton lost his seat and Labour got in for a second term. My second thought was, wow, I'm eating tofu scramble in the sunshine and Dutton lost his seat and Labour got in for a second term. Happy days.
I'm under no illusion about Labour, but they did put in a better campaign and the leader of the conservative party is an absolute nob head that Aussies were rightly calling Temu Trump. At least keeping Labour in means a bit of stability in a world that's very chaotic at the moment and it has given me a little more faith in the Australian people.
So that's my weekend, aside from having the grandson down, making a new garden bed, and spray painting the bulkhead of the Land Rover (phew). As for the Weekend Experience QOTW, I thought I might answer them all at least briefly. Please don't take me too seriously.
Could you cut out sugar permanently? Explain why or why not.
Too easy. Have done it before. If you can't, you merely have a life threatening condition and are in denial, beholden to the Sugar Demons who present as God wrapped in coloured foil. Break free of your servitude, addicts & weaklings.
If you didn't have to work for your financial security (didn't need a job) what would you be doing instead?
Surf, garden, surf. Do you not know me by now?
What financial plan (other than crypto currency) have you put in place to secure your future? Explain.
Inheritance. My parents were boomers and I haven't got enough superannuation for retirement nor will I, because for health reasons I can't work very much. Besides I just can't bring myself to slave like a bitch and not live my life before I inevitably die of cancer or drown. Either that or poverty. I'll live off seaweed.
Give three reasons why people should like you and explain each.
I'm kind hearted. Whilst it might be behind a cynical, blackish humour, I'd do anything for you and my empathy extends to all living things.
I'm also a damn good cook. Come over for a meal and you won't be disappointed.
I'm also pretty resourceful, so I'm your girl in a zombie apocalypse. I have some badass skills foraging too, and making meals out of nothing.
What makes you angry, annoyed or upset and why?
Fucking Netanyahu committing genocide and the world just watching on, if not outright supporting Zionists. They have made me not give two shits about October 7 in the wake of the slaughter of thousands upon thousands of innocents. I shouldn't even have to say I'm against all terrorism but somehow we are forced to say 'fuck Hamas' as well when it was Israel that created the whole situation in the first place. And fuck the settlers too, with their long term plan to push out Palestinians. And fuck Trump for wanting to develop the Gaza strip.
Don't get me started on people who don't care about the environment. Or developers carving up land into parcels 300 m2 which ain't enough for anyone to have a garden. Or people who leave toilet paper behind in the bush.
I'm not sure I can be bothered explaining WHY because it should be self evident, though for some people it clearly isn't. I defriended someone I knew who was openly and loudly Christian yet said killing Palestinian children was justified in the wake of October 7. I'd do the same for anyone leaving rubbish behind at a campsite.
With Love,

Don’t start me on politics, I think we should sack them all and replace them with resourceful children. I can imagine our three year old Effie addressing the nation, “and now everyone, it’s time for ice cream”. We’ve got to make this happen.
Can we swap your Labour Party for ours? Do they give more than two shits about you Australians? If they do, that’s better than ours.
Don’t mention that hand puppet faced fuckwit Farage getting a seat. I want to knock on doors and shake people, hard and then slap them ll hard around the face.
I’m going going to retire and kayak. Except I can’t. Like you it’s down to inheritance mostly that will sustain us once we retire and that will be long before I’m 67. Good god

Oh yeah you have had some doozies. How is Stamer doing compared to some of the other clowns you have had? Haven't being paying a lot of attention - hands in ears LALALALALAL
I’m very LALALA too to be honest. Whoever is in power will always do badly because they are instant villains. Our feelings about governments are at an all time low I feel.
Initially they did enact a number of things very quickly to be fair.
What a busy time for politics, Canada and you guys, and orange face manages to have some sort of influence directly and indirectly.
Enjoy your time as Grandma Rivers, best time in life!
Yeah Canada is certainly pointing to us and shouting. SEE! AUSTRALIA DID IT! CAN WE COPY PLEASE? I think everyone here was so horrified at America they could not vote conservative JUST IN CASE. The horror!
Your Q&A got me a bit excited at first, but then I realized that my answers would not be that much different from yours. Even the ones about politics, though I generally prefer not to waste my nerves on repeating what I assume is common sense to most reasonable people.
By the way, thank you again for your musical recommendation! I just bought Everything I Love by Could be Stars, since I found myself going back to the Bandcamp page to listen to their music. It's the first time in years that I actually bought an album of recorded music. Is it okay if I publish a post about them? I got one prepared, but I still feel like I should get your green light before I publish it.
Oh goodness, Asher will be stoked! Yes, please do,!
Awesome! Tomorrow is Tuesday, so it'll be perfect for #TTT.
Would you mind not mentioning me? I'd like to share it with him but I don't really want family to easily find my account to read my everyday drivel, some of which is about family. You could say 'the nephew of one of our Hive bloggers' if you like, if you feel you need to mention it at all? Can't wait to read it! He was really thrilled with your comment and my sister sent me a screenshot of your purchase comment. So nice of you and glad you genuinely liked them. He's only 16 but is so talented and absolutely obsessed with making music. He organises all his own gigs in Melbourne. I'll never forget him as a 4 year old enthusiastically singing 'Riptide'. Classic.
You got it! Your name was up there with a big Thank You, but I took it out like you asked. However, I left the link to my post (about Bob Dylan) where you mentioned him in your comment. If you want, I can also unlink it, and just elude to it vaguely, though I don't think it's too hard to find in any case.
No worries, I think it'll be fine, I don't think people can be that bothered... haha! Loved it, and thanks so much again for your support. Ash loved the Neutral Milk comparison, he said it's one of his fave bands.
Not at all, thank YOU for initiating it! I'm so glad to hear Asher liked the post. Most of all I'm happy that he liked my Neutral Milk Hotel comparison!
I e yet to listen to them... I will today!!!
You have never listened to NMH? No way! You really need to catch up on this musical experience. I'm curious to hear what you thought about it.
I hope the inheritance thing works out better for you than it did for me, unless you could find use for a set of false teeth:)
