The Economic Colapse is Imminent
January 5th: 304 Bs per $

January 7th (in the morning): 311 Bs per $

Even though the government has met with representatives of the economic sector to avoid speculation and market distortions, prices keep skyrocketing.
January 7th (in the afternoon): 321 Bs per $

To bypass the Central-Bank regulated exchange rate and still be in "good" standing with the law, people are charging goods and services at Euro rates (375 Bs per €).
The black market is now flirting with 700 Bs/$ and if you are an average person who depends on salaries paid in Bs, you are fucked!
The US government announces beautiful oil deals and plans to fix electricity infrastructure while the ínterim government announces plans to rescue the arrested president and punish anyone inside who might threaten their discourse and authority.
No political prisoners have been released yet.
I'm sorry. I hope, if Trump is going to control your country that he start looking at democracy, besides oil.
We can only wish. It is obvious so far that their priority is not what most Venezuelans judge fair
I don't know if it's the most appropriate of proverbs: The donkeys play and the muleteers pay.
Buena suerte.
I guess that is accurate.
We'll need a lot of planets aligning in the right direction
Congratulations @hlezama!
You raised your level and are now a Minnow!
I have not been able to sit and read Hive posts for several days, so I was relieved to learn you and your family are all alive and well in the midst of the chaos. I appreciate your well-written account of what is (and isn't) happening in Venezuela. I don't even bother to watch the mainstream media accounts here, as they are all designed to tell us whatever the powers that be want us to hear. Even alternative news sources can be confusing, presenting conflicting information. I know life has been extremely difficult in your country for a long time, but I question whether carrying off your president is actually going to help any. To me, it seems quite arrogant of Trump to have done such a thing. As you said, only time will tell.
I enjoyed the pictures of your New Year's Day outing in the park. I, too, have mixed feelings about zoos. I haven't actually been to one in years.
