What’s Wrong With Society Right Now—and How I’d Fix It
By Shavon Rose Grass

Let’s not sugarcoat it: society is breaking. Not just cracking at the edges, but crumbling in its soul. The systems that once promised connection, safety, and progress have mutated into mechanisms of control, greed, and distraction. We are being poisoned—mentally, spiritually, emotionally—by a world built on lies, and most people don’t even realize it. Or worse, they do, but feel too exhausted, too small, or too broken to do anything about it.

But I see it. I feel it in my bones. And I believe it doesn’t have to be this way.
The Heart of the Problem

This isn’t just about corrupt leaders or broken politics, though that’s a massive part of it. We’ve got people in power who feed off division, who lie with smiles, who make war seem noble and compassion seem weak. We’ve got billionaires pretending to be saviors while stealing the future from under our feet. We’ve got churches preaching love while stoking fear. We’ve got schools that dull the mind and media that silences the soul. And somewhere along the way, we stopped seeing each other—really seeing each other.

We’ve become so obsessed with image, comfort, and control that we’ve forgotten truth. We’re choking on artificial light, artificial food, artificial intelligence—and forgetting what it means to be alive.

And underneath it all, there's this ache. A quiet, persistent grief. For what we lost. For who we could have been. For the world we know is possible but haven’t yet seen.
How I Would Fix It

I'm not a politician. I’m not a celebrity. I’m a mother, a creator, a thinker, a dreamer—someone who’s felt too much, lost too much, and seen the deeper layers of this human experience. And if I had the power, if I could pull the veil down and show the world what matters again, here’s how I’d begin:

  1. Truth Exposure

The truth is the medicine. It hurts, but it heals. I’d shine a spotlight on the lies—the ones buried in government, religion, money, and media. I’d expose the puppet strings and the ones pulling them. Not to punish, but to wake people up. We can’t change what we don’t see.

  1. Empathy Education

If I could, I’d rewrite the curriculum of humanity. Every child would learn emotional literacy, active listening, spiritual reflection, and how to care for the Earth and each other. Compassion would be a requirement, not a luxury. Competition would take a back seat to cooperation.

  1. Creative Healing

Art is my weapon and my refuge. I believe music, storytelling, and visual creation have the power to unlock trauma, restore identity, and unify people across divides. I would fill the world with sounds and images that break open hearts and awaken buried truths. The right song can be a revolution.

  1. Reclaiming the Sacred

No more dogma. No more fear-driven religions. I would guide people back to the source within them, beyond labels and rules—to the living pulse of the universe that connects all things. Whether you call it God, Source, The One, or just consciousness, it’s time we stop pretending we’re separate from it—or each other.

  1. Exiling the Greed-Machine

We’ve built a society that rewards cruelty and punishes care. I’d flip that system upside down. No more billionaires hoarding while people starve. No more “leaders” making laws to hurt the most vulnerable. I’d dissolve the idea that money is power and replace it with the truth: love is power, integrity is currency, and empathy is wealth.
A New Way Forward

I don't think we need a thousand more laws. We need a thousand more awakenings.

People like me—people like you—are the future. Not because we have all the answers, but because we’re willing to feel the pain of the world and not turn away. Because we’re willing to change. Because we still believe in magic—not the fairy tale kind, but the kind that lives in raw connection, fearless love, and courageous creation.

This world doesn’t need another king. It needs more bridges.

And maybe, just maybe… that’s what I came here to be.

That's right, the right songs with good storytelling and better visual creation actually can become into a formidable revolution. The only question now is... ¿how long will it take to materialize?
