We are not as far down that road in the U.S. as Germany is, but we are on the way. Right now, people walking in the street are asked to produce 'papers' to prove they are U. S. citizens. If they cannot prove on the spot that they are citizens, they are subject to detention until the 'problem' is cleared up. Detention is in a nightmarish facility. While this does not affect our pocketbooks, I think it affects something far more important: our freedom.
