When animals are raised in captivity they have no idea what being wild is like. I was raised where I could get away from captivity, where I not only could have an idea of what being wild was like, but well understood what freedom was. I realized that we did not have to be wild to be free, but that we could be free and civilized, at the same time. Civil society does not require slavery, and many of the people on the island more or less did enable society to thrive without being enslaved to some overlord, to the best of their abilities.

Not everyone did this well, and overlords far away did their best to enslave us all from afar with powerful psychological manipulation, while thugs in the government gang there on the island also sought to gain wealth and power by abusing us. There was a constant tension between ferality and domestication, between lawful civil society and absolute wilderness, and utter enslavement of those that criminally harmed - or were claimed to commit criminal harms but did not - and were confined in cages for the profits of thugs wearing colors, that tried to claim we were all property, but massa was kind enough to allow us to do our work unfettered. No one was actually in charge of explaining all this, at least not to me, and had a good understanding of who and what we really are, and that remains the case today.

After having experienced both the futility of ranging the woods and sea without good company, without the benefit of the mutual applications of technology and our common agreement to respect free folks, as well as felt the bite of the lash of thugs violently claiming ownership, and also the fists of criminals seeking to prey on their fellows, I may not have completely understood the perfect limits of government, and the proper difference between unruled and unruly, but I did observe that the worst possible combination was criminals attaining to governmental power, and that was definitely the situation in every jurisdiction I was ever in. The looting of victims was best accomplished when the victims were unaware they were being criminally parasitized rather than voluntarily contributing to civil society, and that was why we had indoctrination camps instead of proper education, to keep us in the most vulnerable state of confusion regarding freedom, domestication, and tyrannical oppression.

Trying to nail down specifics has been the geas of the wise since time immemorial, and that alone offers me solace when I despair of success at it. When I realized that the combination of aquaponics, 3D CnC manufacturing process automation, and space travel made slavery impossible, while enabling the absolutely free access to practically limitless resources, I saw that the blessings of civilization did not depend on centralization, but the opposite, on dispersing productive capacity across the population, and that created the opportunity to merit prosperity through personally creating wealth, that could not be substituted for parasitism or predation in the harsh environment of space where the expense of maintaining habitability made the cost of taking from others more expensive than simply investing in your own production of the illimitable resources at every hand. Not only would forcibly enslaving them with merit become impossible when these technologies became completely dispersed across the population, but maintaining any kind of civil society was the most expensive and difficult form of wealth that could be attained beyond Earth, that only complete morons would endanger by attempting to impose tyranny over it, and such morons were utterly unable to merit the wealth necessary to such power.

Then I realized no matter what I thought, understood, or didn't understand, the laws of physics were going to create conditions that prevented tyranny and slavery, and caused good company to be the most valuable wealth that could be attained, and things would eventually not only get better on their own, but be perfected, in due time.

Sadly, that time has not come, and we must continue to strive to bring that time to fruition by ourselves adopting the nascent technologies that will bring that fruit to harvest, and that is the best we can do today. Seize the means of production suitable to your personal circumstances, and usher in paradise to the best of your abilities today, that will bring about the absolute freedom to merit inconceivable wealth and prosperity that will perfect our posterity's felicity in perpetuity, as soon as possible. We cannot do more, nor should we do less.

Thanks!

You sound a lot like this lady.
She had many of those same ideas.

She is clearly smarter than me, if that is so. I'll have a look. Thanks for the door to understanding, always ready at your hand.
