It's better to teach them than to let them learn the hard way, imo.

Some of the best screen plays in movies aren't the ones of a terrified looking kid who picks up a gun of an intruder struggling with another adult in the room and gets lucky shooting them, the best ones are the ones where the kid picks up the gun, or knows where a gun is at, retrieves it and blows the intruder away with a look of assurance the intruder just made his day.

Then, because the kid was only doing his duty to protect his family, suffers internally for his childhood trauma of killing someone at such a young age. Possibly, a sociopath has been born all because some intruder wanted something that wasn't his. Can't really know for sure what outcome a child is going to have long term. Either way, it's still no excuse to not teach your kids about the importance of having protection and how to use it.

Good comment though.

I wouldn't think it would have the same negative phycological effects if a child killed someone when a parent or other family member is struggling for their lives. I wouldn't think it would lead them into a world of growing up to be a vigilante of justice, or a kid who starts running around killing neighborhood pets or some morbid thing like that, strangers things to do happen, I agree, there may be a minute chance it changes the course of their lives toward another direction.

Don't spend that penny all in one place now, we need to spur economic growth around.

Well if you lived close enough by, I'd do it for free. I am licensed and come with a wonderful recommendation from my guinea pig for achieving excellence in layering, you'd be the only one though, it took months to accomplish, she loves the outcome but she hates the bath, grooming, and the sitting still.

lol, lucky for me I don't have to do the color, it's natural on her. A lot of people pay good money to try and get a three layer color dimension. She has this thing, that's sort of spectacular to watch in the way the hair flies up in the air and before it lands back down she puts her head underneath it to groom herself. Really weird. Sometimes she just shakes her body several times and it flies up and down. It just fans out around her and lands back down. Like a flying color wheel of hair.

You have to go to school for a year or do a two year apprenticeship under another licensed person. After that you apply for licensure to the state and pass a practical (you have to bring someone you can use as a model to do basic techniques on) and a theory exam. Every state has their own set of requirements you have to pass. You can't practice in another state without passing their exams. You have to renew your license every two years, which is almost fifty bucks a pop, plus if you have your own salon, that requires a different set of regulations and inspections for licensing, which you also have to renew every two years. You can cut hair on the side but if they find out about it you can lose your license. I don't think it's as much as big deal if you are doing it on occasion for family or friends, sometimes low income people get their hair cut for free at area churches or gathering places low income people frequent, or events for what they call locks for love where people grow their hair long so it can be cut to donate to make wigs for cancer survivors, I just think they don't want people to operate out of their homes on a regular basis, or open a unlicensed business. I can see some justification for it when it comes to the use of some of the chemicals used on hair, you can, if you don't know what you are doing, burn their hair right off their heads. Or like I am a licensed electrologist also, and you can burn holes in people's skin if you don't know how to control the heat settings, or learn proper sanitizing protocols and identification of various skin ailments so you aren't spreading something around, or even giving yourself some skin ailment someone has that may be contagious. I knew a few barbers though over the years that have done quite well skirting the rules by going to in home visits of their customers. You can do that relatively easy once you built a client base of satisfied customers. Most keep renewing their license though because it does come with the benefit of discounted pricing on supplies. A lot of stylist just rent a chair from a salon for any said number of days they want to work during a week, they pay the owner for the chair rental and bring in their own customers or do walks in into the salon. If you are running your clientele in and out the salon doesn't keep track of those individuals so they can potential keep income under the radar from the powers that be when it comes to taxes. So there are quite a few ways people can play the system if they desire.

You can get quite the line up offering free haircuts, lol, it was also sort of a off handed remark as I've told Ms. Piggy I won't be taking her recommendations from any of her friends. It's a side joke between me and her while I am cutting her hair, talking to her to try keep her calm, if you've never tried to cut a guinea pigs hair it's attune to trying to catch a fly buzzing around your head. One second you are about to clip it and the next it's gone from between your fingers as she tries to escape. It's a delicate operation unlike cutting people's hair where you usually cut from atop your fingers, with her you need to keep the hair on the inside of your hands and fingers as she has these fragile tiny looking legs and feet buried among all that hair, from the looks of them it would be rather easy to accidently swipe one off.

Learned to shoot guns as a kid. My favorite has always been long range shooting.
