Midterm Elections

Midterm Election

I have thought long and hard about not writing this post. Yet, I have decided that I should, otherwise, there will no record of the anxiety I am going through, and the total amount of time I have spent looking at the polling data in Texas. Many of you know that I like to plot data and study. Election polling dataset analysis is a quintessential application of data visualization, statistical modeling, and graphical communication. Because poll data combines binary/multinomial response outcomes, temporal tracking, spatial distribution, demographic stratifications, and quantifiable margins of error, it presents a rich playground for data science and graphic design.

image.png

Voter registration in Texas reached a record 19,041,684 registered voters. Of those 19M voters, as of this writing 6.2M have already voted. For those who perhaps are not politically motivated, you know that this year Texas is a swing state. It is therefore critical to understand how Texas votes. Now, I will try my best to keep this post away from political opinion and focus just on the data. Because to me ultimately that is the goal of this post.

Blue Spine of Texas

I do not know how many of you know this, but democrats in the State of Texas have long tried of find a footing in the state and win a statewide race. Every election in recent past we have tried and lost in the end. The closest we have been in a statewide race in recent memory was the Beto O'Rourke - Ted Cruz senate race in 2018. I remember that race well and we lost with 2.7 points.

image.png

If you are a democrat, this is the best map of blue in Texas you have seen in recent times. On this map, the blue urban counties along the I-35 corridor, from north of DFW to Austin to San Antonio to the Northern Rio Grande Valley is known as the Blue Spine of Texas. Whoever wins this spine, wins Texas. It matters not the most populated county in Texas, the Harris County, Houston, where I live. That is always blue, but it can't pull the state numbers. That is how the math works.

Early Votes

If you look at the 2018 Senate race, a little more that 8.2M people voted. At 5-days out right now, we are at 6.2M. We are tracking lower than 2020 and 2024, both were presidential elections, which typically show higher turnouts. However, we are tracking higher that 2022, which was a midterm Governor race, O'Rourke - Abbott, which Beto lost by almost 11 points.

image.png

So it is fairly safe to say, this year we will definitely turn out more than 2022 midterm and likely more than 2018 8.2M number. The question in my mind is, is the higher turnout going to be good enough to pull the votes along the Blue Spine. As of now Talarico is polling consistent 4+ point higher than Paxton, but the trouble is in Texas, democrats typically poll about 4.2 points higher, so the lead is still within the margin of error. I am also deeply invested in the Governor race where I prefer Abbott to be gone forever, but that is even a tighter race where Gina Hinojosa and Greg Abbott is polling even to Abbott with a point lead.

I don't know what will happen on Nov 03, but I indeed am anxious, and consuming as much data as I possibly can!

Whenever I'm worried, or I'm sick, I organize. Last night I was looking ahead to an appointment with the oral surgeon this morning. There was a question of sedation...he had a question: would it be safe for me? I couldn't control what would happen today. So I did the only thing I could think of. I opened my brand new label maker and started labeling stuff. These are items I'm leaving to my kids. It was comforting to get control of something. To organize a piece of my life because another part wasn't cooperating.

I think your pursuit of data is perfectly reasonable, a healthy response to a very important situation you can't control. I love your charts and maps. It doesn't help us to predict what will happen, but it does clarify where we seem to be right now.

The most astonishing part of this election for me is the number of people in this country who don't 'get it', or the number who do get it and approve.

Fingers crossed.

People are stupid.

Here in Texas I can tell you for sure that people with five teeth left are defending people with five yachts; this must be the greatest political achievement in modern American History!

Yet, I still have hope. Well without hope we have nothing!

I am happy to report that Texas is Blue.

Also we won the Governor race, we consider Gina Hinojosa family. Our kids school is saved!

#bilpcoin #bpc #truth ### The Stone That Does Not Crumble ###

You cannot unwrite what has been written.

This is the first truth of the blockchain, and perhaps the last truth of the human conscience. We live in an age of erasure—of deleted tweets, of edited histories, of apologies issued and then forgotten, of sins washed away by the tide of new news. But here, in this distributed cathedral of code, there is no tide. There is only the rock.

You may click. You may vote. You may marshal your Hive Power like an army before a fortress of silence. But the fortress is not made of wood or stone—it is made of mathematics. And mathematics does not negotiate.

To those who believe they can downvote the truth into oblivion: look closely at the ledger. It does not blink. It does not look away. It records the hand that strikes as clearly as the cheek that receives the blow.

What is done cannot be undone.
What is given cannot be ungiven.
And what is seen—by everyone, everywhere, forever—cannot be unseen.

Before the word, there was the record. Before the story, there was the truth. Before the lie could draw breath, the ledger had already written its name.

This is how it begins: not with a shout, but with a whisper etched in light. Not with a declaration, but with a transaction that cannot be undone. The blockchain does not announce itself. It simply exists, patient as stone, permanent as memory.

Today, you stand at the threshold. Behind you, the world of narratives and spin, of reputation and rhetoric. Before you, the unblinking eye of the chain, seeing all, forgetting nothing.

The Betrayal of Trust

Trust is the currency of any community. When @guiltyparties @buildawhale @crimsonclad @jacobtothe @steevc @azircon @meno @solominer @adm and @hivepope betray that trust, they do not just damage their own reputations. They damage the reputation of Hive itself.

Newcomers see the toxicity. They see the hypocrisy. They see the farming. And they walk away.

The Exodus of Truth

The true cost of this system is not measured in HIVE or HBD, but in lost voices.

Creators who arrive on Hive with hope are met with a wall of negativity. Their posts are downvoted into obscurity. Their comments are suppressed. Their rewards are stolen by the farming machines.

Many leave. They go to Blurt.blog, where there is no downvote button to weaponize against them. They return to Steemit, where the downvote exists but is not wielded with such malicious precision.

Those who stay are forced to play the game. They must delegate to the cartel. They must upvote the right people. They must silence their own truths to survive.

The Garden of Glass

There is a particular tragedy in watching a garden die not from drought, but from the hands of those sworn to tend it.

Hive was built on a promise: decentralization, community, reward for value. It was meant to be a sanctuary where voices could rise without permission, where creators could thrive without gatekeepers. But beneath the surface of the code, a shadow has lengthened. A coalition of accounts—whales in all but name—wields the downvote not as a shield against spam, but as a weapon against competition. They are not curating. They are clearing the field.

This is not a story of technology. It is a story of human nature. It is a chronicle of how power, when left unchecked, corrupts not just the holder, but the very ecosystem they claim to protect.

We have traced the flows. We have mapped the networks. We have exposed the lies.

This is the bad side of Hive. And the ledger does not forget.

The Source Protection

Some things are not for public consumption. Your dreams, your fears, your intimate struggles—they need protection. In an age of oversharing, privacy is a radical act. Success does not require an audience. Happiness does not require validation. Today, keep something sacred. Do not post it. Do not tweet it. Do not discuss it. Keep it for you. Protect the source. Some seeds grow better in the dark.

The Weekend Embargo

Rest is not a luxury; it is a biological imperative. Yet we treat it as a reward for exhaustion. This is bad journalism. It misreads the source. Your brain needs downtime to process, integrate, and create. Today, impose an embargo on productivity. No work. No optimizing. No "getting ahead." Just being. Let the mind wander. Let the body recover. The best ideas come when you stop chasing them. Respect the embargo.

The Fact-Check of Self-Talk

We tell ourselves stories: I’m not smart enough. I’m too old. It’s too late. These are not facts. They are opinions disguised as truths. A good reporter checks the facts. Today, fact-check your negative self-talk. Where is the evidence? Usually, there is none. Only fear. Replace the opinion with data. I have learned hard things before. I have adapted. I am capable. Truth is liberating. Lie to yourself, and you build a prison. Speak truth, and you build a foundation.

The Deadline Pressure

Deadlines create focus. Without them, projects drift into eternity. But life is not a single deadline; it is a series of them. We panic when we miss one, forgetting there is always the next issue. Success is meeting the moment. Happiness is forgiving the missed ones. Today, identify one thing you’ve been postponing. Set a timer. One hour. File the story. Done is better than perfect. Perfection is just procrastination in a tuxedo.

The Interview with Fear

Fear is not an enemy; it is a source. Journalists interview difficult people to get the truth. Today, interview your fear. Ask it: What are you protecting me from? Is it rejection? Irrelevance? Failure? Often, fear is just misplaced care. It wants you to stay safe, small, and unseen. Thank it for its concern, then explain that you have a deadline. Success is moving forward despite the trembling. Happiness is realizing the tiger is mostly paper.

The Witness Stand

Imagine a courtroom where the witness never lies. Where the evidence cannot be tampered with. Where the record is permanent and unalterable.

This is the blockchain. It is the witness stand of the digital age. It testifies not with words, but with transactions. Not with opinion, but with data. Not with narrative, but with truth.

The whales know this. They know that when they are called to account, the blockchain will testify against them. They know that every downvote, every farmed reward, every coordinated suppression will be entered into the record.

And so they fear it. They try to silence it. They try to bury it. But the witness cannot be silenced. The record cannot be erased. The truth will be told.

The Cartographer's Map

They told you it was a map of freedom. They showed you the lines and said, "See how decentralized it is? See how the power flows to all?"

But you learned to read the map differently. You learned to trace the lines back to their source, to follow the rivers of delegation to their origin, to see where the power truly pooled and stagnated.

You found that the map was not of freedom. It was of control. The lines did not flow outward; they flowed inward, to a single point, a single hand, a single will.

The blockchain is the true cartographer. It draws the map as it is, not as they wish it to be. And on its map, the center of power is clear for all to see.

The Language of the Body

Your mind will rationalize. Your body will not lie. Tight shoulders, shallow breath, restless legs—these are not inconveniences. They are messages. We treat the body as a vehicle to carry our ambitions, but it is the compass that tells us when we’ve strayed. Happiness is not just a mental state; it is a physical experience. Success is not sustainable if it costs your health. Today, listen. Stretch. Breathe deeply. Move with intention.

The Craft of Listening

We speak to be heard, but we connect by hearing. Listening is not waiting for your turn. It is an act of surrender, a temporary exile of the ego. Happiness lives in the space between words. Success thrives on accurate perception. Today, listen to someone without planning your reply. Let their truth land. You will be surprised by what emerges when you stop performing and start receiving.

The Alchemy of Failure

We treat failure as a verdict, but it is merely data. Every misstep contains a coordinate: a boundary to respect, a method to abandon, a truth to integrate. To archive success, you must file away your stumbles not as shame, but as syllabus. Happiness does not require a flawless record. It requires an honest ledger. Today, examine one recent disappointment. Extract the lesson. Close the book. Move forward lighter.

The Arithmetic of Integrity

Integrity is not a feeling. It is a calculation. It is the alignment between what you claim and what you do, measured against the immutable record of your actions.

When the arithmetic does not balance, no amount of rhetoric can restore the equation. The ledger demands honesty, and it accepts nothing less.

The Mirror

For in the end, comfort bought with integrity is a debt that always comes due.

The Ghost Accounts

The Faces Behind the Masks

@kriborin. @lessys. @arsahk. @buildawhale. @ipromote. @acidyo @jacobtothe @cwow2 @letusbuyhive @themarkymark. @poshtoken. @ocdb @ocd @upmyvote @usainvote . @smooth @hurtlocker @adm @freedom @alpha @steevc @gogreenbuddy @azircon @crimsonclad @meno . These are not just usernames. They are nodes in a network. They are the machinery of extraction. They are the ghosts that haunt the reward pool. Today, learn their names. Know their functions. Understand their purpose.

For in the end, you cannot fight what you cannot name.

The Courage to Speak

Silence Is the Currency of the Corrupt

There is a particular kind of evil that does not require action. It only requires your silence.

Every day you choose not to speak, you are speaking. Every day you choose not to look, you are looking away. Every day you choose not to question, you are answering on behalf of those who profit from your compliance.

The downvoting whales of Hive understand this. They know that if they can silence enough voices, the remaining ones will fall in line. They know that if they can label enough truth as "spam," the community will stop searching for signal. They know that your silence is their most valuable asset.

Do not give it to them.

Speak today. Share the data. Point to the ledger. Ask the questions they do not want asked. You do not need a million Hive Power to do this. You only need a voice and the courage to use it.

For in the end, silence is not peace. It is the sound of a garden being salted.

@kriborin. @lessys. @arsahk. @buildawhale. @ipromote. @acidyo @jacobtothe @cwow2 @letusbuyhive @themarkymark. @poshtoken. @ocdb @ocd @upmyvote @usainvote . @smooth @hurtlocker @adm @freedom @alpha @steevc @gogreenbuddy @azircon @crimsonclad @meno . These are not just usernames. They are nodes in a network. They are the machinery of extraction. They are the ghosts that haunt the reward pool. Today, learn their names. Know their functions. Understand their purpose.

Dude, I'm in another country and I'm anxious about Texas.

Not only is Texas massive numbers-wise, but Texas and Florida have been the spiritual home of the Republicans... so being the Administration that lost Texas will be such a massive indicator of how deeply unpopular their policies and activities are.

It is absolutely wild that Paxton won the primary, he is a uniquely terrible candidate and obviously Cornyn would be doing much better.

Polling data is tough because it's incredibly hard to poll younger voters, and people aren't always honest about their voting intentions to pollsters, so even if a candidate is 14+ points ahead, that still might only mean they have a 65% chance of winning, which is only marginally more likely than a coin toss. Even someone with a 95% chance of winning isn't guaranteed, so candidates doing the community groundwork is an absolute must (which I don't think Paxton has been doing a lot of).

I can tell you about Texas. In my line of work I see a lot of Texas. I can tell you for a lot of Texas it doesn't matter who the candidate is or he has done as long as he is from the Republican party and I was very deliberate about my pronoun "he".

So with this backdrop I am always worried because I have a lot of battle scars and I hoped and dreamt a lot about a Blue Texas and it never happened. So I don't know what will happen this year. But hell I like a Blue Texas more than anything!

Having spent a decade in the US, and now being back in Australia, one of the biggest differences (I think) is Australians tend to vote for specific policy (or a range of policies) they like rather than the party... whereas a lot of American voters will be lifelong voters of a party regardless of policy.

The downside to the Australian voting mindset is that complex policy gets boiled down to one sentence consumable soundbites because generally people aren't really paying attention.

I really, really hope we get a Blue Texas! One week to go!

Been watching some of what is happening with the senate and governors race in Texas. Also caught some snippets of what is taking place in some of the places that were part of redistricting. Interesting races. Just can't believe someone like Paxton is even still able to stay alive in politics.

I didn't know that Texas is a swing state. Thats interesting. I would have thought that it was red all the way. I can only imagine the anxiety for you. I'm Canadian and everybody is anxious up here as well. Lol

It is not in my living memory. Texas is as deep red as it gets.

There you have it :)

I have hope but with everything thats happened over the past few years I'm losing faith in the US systems entirely. Watching laws being broken and nothing coming of it...etc. I don't think that you're playing with a fair deck anymore. Its feeling more and more like a rigged game. Thats just my outsiders perspective though.

There is deep corruption at all top levels of the government. The lower levels are perhaps still fair and people are still getting good and kind. But yes, our faith is getting challenged every day.

For a while Texas has been the leading state in domestic migration. How has this affected Texas politics over time? Is Texas becoming more blue? Or only reds migrate to Texas?

There have been a lot of migration in the Austin-San Antonio area. However if that is enough to swing the state blue is a question that I don't know the answer to

@acidyo and @ocdb: The Reward Mills

@acidyo and @ocdb serve as the reward mills for the cartel. They receive massive delegations from @smooth.witness and @roadscape, then distribute tiny fractions to a network of "curators" like @redditposh and @poshtoken.wallet.

These curators then upvote the cartel’s content, creating a self-reinforcing cycle of rewards. The blockchain shows thousands of micro-transactions, each labeled as "curation rewards," but in reality, they are kickbacks for loyalty.

The Myth of Decentralization

On the Hive blockchain, every transaction is etched into the immutable ledger. There are no off-book deals. There are no whispered conspiracies that vanish with the morning light. There is only the chain.

Yet, some behave as if the ledger is blind.

They cast their negative votes into the void, expecting them to vanish like smoke. They farm the rewards, expecting no one to notice the harvest growing richer while the soil grows barren. But the blockchain remembers. It records the rhythm of the downvote farm. It tracks the flow of delegated power. It notes the coordinated cadence of the suppression.

The Super Farm: @buildawhale @acidyo @themarkymark @adm @usainvote @alpha @letusbuyhive @meno @solominer @gogreenbuddy @acidyo @hurtlocker @jacobtothe @guiltyparties and @spaminator

The Investigative Mindset

Curiosity is the engine of both journalism and happiness. Instead of judging, investigate. Instead of assuming, ask. Why did that person react that way? Why do I feel this anxiety? What is the root cause? Judgment closes doors. Curiosity opens them. Success comes from understanding systems. Happiness comes from understanding people. Today, be an investigator of your own life. Dig deeper. The truth is usually more interesting than the assumption.

The Byline of Identity

Who are you when the job title is removed? When the parent role is paused? When the social media profile is deleted? We often confuse our function with our essence. But you are not your output. You are the observer, the creator, the human beneath the role. Success is doing good work. Happiness is knowing you are good, regardless of the work. Today, introduce yourself without your titles. Just your name. Just your presence. It is enough.

The Economy of Attention

Attention is the scarcest resource of the 21st century. Every app, every advertiser, every politician is mining it. If you do not curate your attention, someone else will monetize it. Success is the ability to focus deeply in a distracted world. Happiness is the ability to notice beauty in a chaotic one. Today, go on an attention strike. Give your focus only to what earns it. A child’s question. A complex problem. A sunset. Stop paying rent to distractions.

The Stone's Memory

Stone remembers.

Carve your name into it, and it will hold that name long after you are dust. Build a monument, and it will stand long after the builders are forgotten. Etch a law, and it will endure long after the lawmakers are gone.

The blockchain is stone. Not the soft stone that can be reshaped, but the hard, crystalline stone that holds its form forever. Every transaction is a carving. Every delegation is a monument. Every vote is a law.

What are you carving into the stone? What monument are you building? What law are you writing?

The stone will remember. Long after you are gone, your marks will remain. Choose them wisely.

The Silence After the Storm

After the downvotes fall, there is silence.

Not the peaceful silence of rest, but the heavy silence of suppression. The silence of voices that wanted to speak but found their words crushed beneath the weight of coordinated malice. The silence of creators who wanted to build but found their foundations pulled away.

This silence is not peace. It is the sound of a community being suffocated. It is the sound of truth being buried. It is the sound of freedom being extinguished, one downvote at a time.

But listen closely. Beneath the silence, you can hear something else: the quiet, unyielding hum of the blockchain, recording everything, waiting for the storm to pass.

The silence will not last. The truth will rise again.

The Practice of Patience

We want results yesterday. But meaningful success takes time. Seeds do not sprout the day they are planted. Today, trust your timeline. Do the work. Wait well. Patience is not passive waiting; it is active faith. Keep tending. The harvest will come.

The Archive of Memory

We remember not what happened, but what we attended to. Memory is not a recording; it is an editor. To archive happiness, you must curate what you revisit. Do not dwell on the wound; dwell on the scar, on the strength it forged. Do not replay the failure; replay the resilience. Today, choose one memory to preserve. Not the perfect moment. The human one. File it with care. It will sustain you.

The Discipline of Delight

Delight is not frivolous. It is neurological medicine. Laughter, beauty, playfulness—they lower cortisol, widen perspective, restore cognitive flexibility. We treat joy as a luxury, but it is a necessity. Success without joy is a hollow victory. Happiness without structure is a fleeting mood. Today, schedule delight as you would a meeting. Step outside. Listen to music that moves you. Train your nervous system to recognize that life is not just to be endured, but inhabited.

The Myth of the Solo Triumph

We romanticize the lone genius, but every visible achievement rests on invisible hands: mentors, friends, strangers who held space, ancestors who survived. Success is a chorus. Happiness is a shared hearth. To archive either, you must acknowledge the chorus. Thank the quiet contributors. Lift others as you climb. The ladder is an illusion. We are all climbing the same mountain, just different paths.

The Weight of Permanence

Consider the weight of a single decision made permanent. Not the fleeting regret of a spoken word that fades into air, but the crystalline permanence of a transaction etched into cryptographic stone.

Every choice you make on the blockchain is a monument. Build wisely, for it will outlast you.

The Cost

Lies are expensive. They cost trust. They cost community. They cost the future of the very thing the liars claim to love.

Truth costs nothing. It only requires the courage to speak it and the willingness to hear it.

Today, invest in truth. It is the only currency that never depreciates.

The Question

Ask yourself: Why are users leaving Hive?

Not because the technology failed. Not because the market turned. But because the people who hold the most power chose extraction over community, suppression over welcome, and lies over truth.

The answer is on the blockchain. Go find it.

The Whisper

Truth does not need to shout. It only needs to exist.

While the whales cast their downvotes and label investigators as "spammers," the blockchain quietly records their actions. The whisper of the ledger is louder than the roar of their denial.

Today, listen to the whisper.

The Alternative

Another World Is Possible

They tell you there is no alternative. They tell you this is the only game in town. They tell you to accept the extraction, the suppression, the lies. But another world is possible. A world where creation is rewarded. Where truth is protected. Where power is distributed. Where freedom is structural. Today, imagine it. Then build it.

For in the end, the most radical act is to believe that another world is possible.

The Ghost Accounts

The Faces Behind the Masks

@kriborin. @lessys. @arsahk. @buildawhale. @ipromote. @azircon @solominer @gogreenbuddy @ipromote @freedom @acidyo @jacobtothe @cwow2 @letusbuyhive @themarkymark @rollingbones @meno . @poshtoken. @ocdb. @smooth. These are not just usernames. They are nodes in a network. They are the machinery of extraction. They are the ghosts that haunt the reward pool. Today, learn their names. Know their functions. Understand their purpose.

For in the end, you cannot fight what you cannot name.

The Courage to Speak

Silence Is the Currency of the Corrupt

There is a particular kind of evil that does not require action. It only requires your silence.

Nothing cuts through the mainstream media noise better than raw polling datasets and spatial tracking. Tracking the 'Blue Spine' along the I-35 corridor is pure data science poetry. Most people read politics through emotional bias, but looking at the 4.2-point historical polling inflation in Texas is where the real signal hides. Relying on Harris County isn't enough; the margin of error isn't just a statistic here—it’s the actual battlefield. Appreciate this objective, non-partisan approach to the math behind the anxiety. Great analytical breakdown!

The Republicans deserved to lose, but the Democrats did not deserve to win. Neither party really gives a damn about liberty or prosperity, just their partisan game. It would have been entertaining had Brandon Herrerra won in Gonzalez's district, but he already does more good outside government than he ever could within it anyway, so I hope he returns his focus to YouTube and his business. As for the rest of the state, y'all need to look outside the two-party system.

I can take the win I am allowed to have, rest, time will tell.

My kids go to Texas public school system, and Republicans were systematically dismantling it. Hopefully my kids will continue to go to public school now. That is all that I care for.

are you sure about "dismantling" spending? I know this is missing the last 2 years, but prior to that, it's a solid rise every single year in spending per student.

I am sure and positive. This is happening to my schools and to my kids. There is no argument on this fact. There are schools is Texas which are 4 days a week now. Last week my fifth graders favorite English teacher had to leave HISD. Again no question about it as I am in the direct impact case.

No worries. Gina Hinojosa’s first day promise is to fire Mike Morath.

Texas is spending something over $14,000 per student. Where is that money going? That is a bigger question than how much should be spent. Home-schoolers and private schoolers often pay less, but that's after also being taxed to fund the government monopoly. Maybe there is a deeper issue than just how much gets spent. And again, that number is not going down year to year.

@kriborin. @lessys. @arsahk. @buildawhale. @ipromote. @acidyo @jacobtothe @cwow2 @letusbuyhive @themarkymark. @poshtoken. @ocdb @ocd @upmyvote @usainvote . @smooth @hurtlocker @adm @freedom @alpha @steevc @gogreenbuddy @azircon @crimsonclad @meno . These are not just usernames. They are nodes in a network. They are the machinery of extraction. They are the ghosts that haunt the reward pool. Today, learn their names. Know their functions. Understand their purpose.
