I didn't see enough of the video to tell if the lady came close to running them over or not, but the fact remains ICE should have never been there in the first place and all of this could have been avoided. I thought the speech the mayor gave was pretty great.

I saw two videos and watching both makes it pretty clear that the dude was not hit at all. There is also an eye witness account of what happened and the lady that was killed a white woman 37 years old was not even an immigrant just a lady that lived a few blocks away. She was a widower with a six years old boy her husband died in 2023, so there is an orphan kid now and the ICE dude just shot her point blank. Listen to the eyewitness account in this video:

What has the response been around you?
Well, we as a family are trying not to stick out during this second Trump administration. They even de-naturalize US citizens for simple clerical mistakes decades ago these days and you can always find something if you want to persecute someone.
Outside our family I heard there are protests planned in Seattle, so I am glad that I am done with office for this week, the bomb squad on the way to work in my train and station closure due to a bomb threat on the way back was enough fun for me...
From the sounds of things, it is resembling a movie more and more - a movie depicting mid 1930s Germany.
Well 50% of the voters approve everything that is going on... The shooter was identified, but will never be disciplined or anything with all senior political leaders firmly behind him. FBI took over shooting investigation to prevent state authorities from saying anything contrary to the official federal story...
Yeah, I have seen more now. I pretty much know how it is going to go. They are going to say the lady should have minded her own business. They are going to say the vehicle was a deadly weapon and although she didn't hit the guy intent was there. They have a playbook and they are going to stick to it. Supporters are going to eat it up and rally behind it. Meanwhile people standing up against injustice are going to continue to get victimized.
I think that is an accurate assessment based on how the official statements for that lady in charge changed...

A lot of what I experienced, and have been experiencing in different formats, but today was really telling, is it's bots, not supporters. I was on a blog today, made several comments, all of a sudden it came up Ops, something went wrong, refresh the page. I did, and all my comments were gone. AI is way more actively engaged than what I think people realize. Basically, what remained, was each side going at each other, people making any sense, was gone.
Interesting. I haven't seen that, but I haven't really been looking and I try to avoid getting into political debates these days. It's just pointless it seems.
I have those days myself thinking it's pointless, but sharing information is important, so is having knowledge and understanding of what's happening in the world, I won't feel blinded running around not knowing what's taking place if SHTF for any given reason. What you know early on, especially stuff posted on blockchains, are incredibly helpful in bringing insight that individuals post from scenes, or share with each other, in countering the driven narrative. The Renee Good shooting was a prime example of that, video coverage coming from all angles that within a day countered the narrative of what was being put out. This lets people analyze the situation from different perspectives, promoting cooler heads to prevail before passing judgement(s). Like if many of them really knew this isn't about illegal immigration, and an attempt to invoke the insurrection act to control our major import/exports centers, they'd take a step back with a better understanding that it is an action to get a reaction, illegal immigration is an objective to achieve an underlying objective. Don't believe me, look at all the states these things are happening in, California, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Carolina, North Carolina, Illinois, Tennessee, with the latter being the second largest inland port in the US. Took me long enough to connect that one. I kept asking myself, what's so special about Memphis. Didn't click because it's so interior. Look up Inland Port Greer, and The International Port of Memphis.
Agreed. I was just telling my partner how annoying it was that international news kept reporting with official statements from Trump or Noem without any pushback... and we were chatting about how while it was factual and impartial to report on the official statements, there was a level of bias there that wasn't comprehensive... and then a minute later the Australian reporting included audio from the mayor calling out the lies and it made me feel so much better.
With some colourful language too it seems!

Sadly fals narratives are becoming the norm these days and people are so ingrained or indoctrinated in what they believe that anything opposed to those narratives are "fake news". It actually happens on both sides though one seems to have weaponized it quite a bit more than the other.
It was unnecessary.
MES has a good video on it, the only one I seen the other day in more length, and it clearly shows he was clear of the car by inches. The one I seen the other day, shows a whole lot more detail of what went on minutes prior, and minutes after.
Has anyone seen the body camera footage yet? I haven't, but I already know how I feel and how those that disagree feel. I don't expect there to be much movement one way or the other.
