I'm not the biggest Trump fan. I do think he was much better than the alternative (which isn't saying much) but I didn't go out and by myself a MAGA hat or anything. I have 0 fear that Trump will try to run for a 3rd term. What he does love to do though is troll those who hate him.
The supreme court will not let Trump run for a third term, states will not put him on the ballot, he would be impeached, etc. if he made some kind of play at a third term. Plus Trump is already 78 years old. There is some doubt he could even make it through a third term.
As far as the authority that Trump wields now, he only has it because Congress has granted those powers to the President (tariffs for instance). They can repeal those laws any time they want. Of course they won't do that because, by and large, Congress doesn't want to do anything, they just want to blame someone else when something goes wrong.
And as far as I can tell, more people have tried to kill Trump than Trump has tried to kill (though with more traditional bullets, not radioactive suppositories). A Trump assassination is another thing that wouldn't be very democratic.
Oh listen. I'm not in a way shape or form endorsing the Democrats with my position. The lack of real democracy has turned me into an anarchist, deep in my core.
I also did not vote for Kamala. The system is broken and has been broken for a while. Trump is a symptom, he's not the origin of the problem.
I don't see a single politician in the US that represents my values running for office. And, because I'm not a partisan hack, a politician has to win my vote. I don't owe it to anyone.
I try to vote for the best candidate that shows up on my ballet...or at least the least of all evils. For most of my voting life that has meant voting for third party candidates, particularly for president. This time I actually voted for Trump. The first time out of the three times he has ran for president. It's not that I am thrilled with him but I also don't think he is the next Hitler. I just couldn't find any third party candidates I really liked this time around and another round of Kamala/Biden was just too much. Short of literally starting World War III, I don't think Trump can be worse than that. At least I hope not.
Ultimately, I suppose a president can "executive order" pretty much anything. It is up to congress to impeach him if he takes things to far. But Congress likes to impeach for stupid things, not serious ones.
