My Three-Point Agenda
Hello beautiful ladies of Hive! I hope you're all doing great. I want to take a moment to appreciate everyone in this amazing community for your support and the way we uplift one another.
This platform gives us the opportunity to freely express our thoughts on important issues, and I’m excited to join in this week’s contest, which revolves around our political system. This topic brings back memories from my school days, back when many of us dreamed of becoming the president someday. Inspired by that dream, I’d like to share my three-point agenda: what I would focus on if I ever had the chance to lead my country. These are the points I believe would convince people to vote for me.
Tackling Insecurity
Till today, the issue of insecurity remains a serious concern. From my research, I discovered that part of the problem, especially in Benue State is rooted in a long-standing land dispute between the Fulani herders and the local residents.
The Fulani claim to be the original settlers, while the current residents say the land belongs to them. Sadly, this disagreement has led to yearly clashes, violence, and the loss of innocent lives.
As the incoming president, I will prioritize resolving such conflicts. But first, I will study how past leaders have handled the issue by going deep into the history of the crisis. Understanding the root cause will help in crafting a long-lasting solution. We live in a civilized age, so why are we still fighting one another over land? There is always a peaceful way to solve issues if we are willing to trace the problem back and handle it wisely.
Investing in Our Natural Resources
I am a proud Nigerian, but I must admit that our country is not being treated fairly even by outsiders. Nigeria is blessed with natural resources like crude oil, yet we still rely on other countries to refine our own products. We extract crude oil, ship it abroad, refine it, and then buy it back at a higher cost. This system is not sustainable. As president, I will focus on building and upgrading local refineries. This will reduce the cost of fuel, and when fuel becomes more affordable, the cost of transportation will drop. And when transportation costs go down, the price of food and other essential goods will also decrease.
Minimize Importation, Maximize Exportation Another major issue in Nigeria is our dependence on imported goods. Our exchange rate keeps getting worse because we import almost everything from cars to household items. Everyone wants to drive luxury cars like Lexus, Benz, and other foreign brands. Meanwhile, we have our very own Innoson Motors producing cars right here in Nigeria, but many people don’t support or buy from him.
This mindset must change not just for cars, but for other locally made products too. As president, I will encourage the production and use of locally made goods. By reducing importation and increasing exportation, we will strengthen the naira, create jobs, and boost our economy.
In conclusion, these are the three pressing issues I believe need urgent attention in my country: insecurity, underdeveloped natural resources, and over-reliance on imports. If I can talk about them with understanding and confidence, I believe I’ll be given the opportunity to lead because real leadership starts with identifying and solving real problems.
