The quote system must be changed

Everyone loves their country and wants to see its development, and in my country, It's not different either. I am from Bangladesh, and it's a developing country and facing a lot of difficulties at the current time. Bangladesh became independent from Pakistan in 1971 after nine months of bloody war. For independence, our heroic sons didn't hesitate to sacrifice their lives. We are living in an independent country because of their sacrifice. We call them freedom fighters, and their contribution to independence can't be forgotten, whatever the reason.

There were several reasons for the bloody war, but one of the most important reasons was the quota system. Before the war, Pakistan (West Pakistan) was getting more facilities in every sector compared to the population size, whereas in the case of economic contribution, the contribution of Bangladesh (East Pakistan) was significant. In the case of contribution, my country was making a huge contribution, but when it was time for facilities, we were getting a small amount, and it was unfair. We protest it, and it ends up with nine months of bloody war. I am talking about it because it has a relation with the current ongoing situation in my country. Let's jump to the present.

The development of a country mostly depends on the education system as well as on students, because they will lead the nation in the future. Naturally, the most qualified students should get deserving positions in the workplace, and it's necessary for the country because putting the wrong person in the position is not only good for the country but also harmful for the country. In the workplace, 56–95% of people were getting a place based on quotas in different sectors, and at least more than half were getting it for the freedom fighter quota.

I know they sacrificed their lives, and I don't have any problem giving them respect and facilities. If their children also receive some extra facilities, as their family suffered a lot, But the facilities extended to the grandchildren as well. It would not be an issue if the government didn't give them a majority of positions. Talented and qualified students are not getting a job, let alone thinking about the deserving position. So university students started to protest for the correction of the quote system to reduce it. In 2018, the freedom fighter quote was removed, and surprisingly, it came back again in 2024. At present, students have raised their voices again for the correction of the quota system. The media played dirty tricks and turned all the students against the current president. I think many of us still don't know what was asked by the reporter to the president, as most people became angry with the president. I think this time we are paying the price for sharing a complete message, but miscommunication occurred and the situation became complicated.

It was not a problem, but yesterday the Chatrolig beat hardly to the protesting students, and many students were seriously injured. It happened in several universities all over the country, and again, we saw bloodshed of students. The female student also didn't spare by them. Yesterday, they beat students mercilessly, and when I entered Facebook, I saw pictures of the bloodshed of my brothers and sisters.

In 1971, our freedom fighters sacrificed for the quota system, but at the current time, we also need to protest and sacrifice blood for the same thing. Now the question is: Why did the freedom fighter sacrifice their life? Was that done to see the current situation? I think not. They never wanted such a quote system, but, unfortunately, we are facing the situation. I feel guilty for seeing such a situation. The quote system must be changed for a better future for our upcoming generation.
