Maturity Of The Mind

Growth happens in different forms for different individuals, and that's what makes it special. It doesn't just mean the physical addition of height or the growing of grey hair as we often use to identify old age. Meanwhile, these could be present in someone and still be nothing close to the definition of growth. Isn't that wonderful?

As for me, one of the signs and lifestyle changes that showed me I had advanced in growth is how I no longer give concern to the things that used to trouble my mind before. I think that should be the highest stage of growth in my life.

Before the growth happened, I was someone who gave myself unnecessary troubles of the mind due to irrelevant thoughts about other people's opinions. Mehn, I wish my mind had become like this some years ago — I would have had a very smooth sailing out of those issues I had. The most striking of them was when I was leading a group of people — a very stubborn group of people, for that matter — and I think they saw how soft my heart was. So, they would deliberately cause trouble, and I would end up running helter-skelter in my soft-heartedness just to remedy the situation. Omo, if it were to be now, I would have been sipping a bottle of Coca-Cola while all of us watched the problem boil like hot water.

Back then, if a lady said no to my relationship proposal, I would end up having sleepless nights. Oooh! That was stupid of me! Imagine that! That lifestyle made me look inferior because the many thoughts and mental troubles made me think I was rejected because I was too ugly or too fair in complexion, and above all, not rich. But guess what? If a lady says ‘No’ to me today, I would laugh over it and even use the experience to make a comic content. Thank God for maturity!

While this may look simple and probably be considered not a big deal when it comes to human growth, it's a big one for me. Easily letting go of the unnecessary, or let me say, childish, behaviour of the mind is a big growth to me.

Just like I tell people, it's not like I'm evil, but there are a lot of ‘crazy’ things or acts some people pull out there that I used to criticise, but now, I know why it's like that and I no longer do the criticism. An example of them is politics. I'm not a fan of politics, but I no longer criticise those guys and the rough play they carry out on society, because that's how it's done. Yes, you can't take away the negative, or let me say, dirty acts in politics. When maturity had not yet stepped in, I used to be worried a lot about these people and the dirty tricks they played on society. But now, I raise my hands for them in accolades.

This is why I have said I won't go into politics, because if I do, the maturity of my mind is going to follow the same path too. Do you want me to oppose the system when I go into politics? Then I should be ready to be a Jesus Christ. Lol
