Berlin election, a European trend toward extreme parties

Hey, it has been a long time since my last post, i might have or might not have "lost my keys" due to a change of setup and found a way to recover them haha.

Today subject is Germany, two region in two weeks with almost opposite results.

Let´s start in saxony-anhalt, who saw a big increase in the AFD party votes (+23%) while the CDU looses half of its vote election to election. Saxon-Anhalt is a more rural region who usually vote more right sided. The interesting trend here is that AFD didn´t convince left people to join the right, but only rallied people from the right to join the far right. As there +23% probably mostly comes from CDU -19.9% and FDP -3.8%, where the Left as a whole as seen an increase in Absolut result, SPD +0.9%, Green 3.0%, DieLinke -2.4% and BSW +5.3% which bring the netto to +6.8% in absolute left votes.

Now what about the number in Berlin, only 96% of ballots were revealed for the moment, so from now to the final results we might see some little differences.
The big difference between berlin and Saxon-Anhlat is that Berlin is a big city which usually then to vote more to the left (especially berlin, with its long standing alternative/underground and open minded tradition). So it comes to no surprise that the Left is the winner in Berlin, the surprise here is the correlation between the two regions results. In berlin we see the same trend of the right radicalization +7% for AFD while -6.3% for CDU, while the left consolidate around more radical left parties like BSW +5% and DieLinke +13.5% while the green -4% and spd -6.3% but in berlin like Saxon-Anhalt we see a nit increase in the Left votes.

We also see a similar trend in France where people tend to move from traditional right wing parties to RN and from Socialists to LFI. This trend of radicalization in the political space will probably continue further as the situation degrade in Europe and as politics shift from mainstream media to the new forms of media (short format content), this might also be positive in a way for Europe. In the past 20 years Europe as enjoyed the position as a top world country without investing enough in modernization, new infrastructures, new industries and new technologies. We are now getting strong competition from other countries around the world and a change in governments is need.

I would still say that in my opinion the problem in Europe are not only the parties, getting more radical groups will not solve everything especially that these groups tend to be more populist (big tent parties centered around one solution) when reality is often more complex and require complex answers. To be able to raise there voice correctly Europeans should be able to vote on majors decisions inside of there countries and touching to Europe and not only elect some representant once in a while to do it for them.
