It’s ‘Your Party’ and I’ll laugh if I want to.

The saga of the Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana political vehicle, provisionally called ‘Your Party’, is something that should be a matter for concern to those who dislike both the far Left and racial and religious politics, but is also something to laugh at.

The matter of concern is that this party is likely to become the go to vehicle for the various ‘Gaza independents’ and other Islamist extremists who want to use the political system to push their own twisted views onto the nation. It is highly probable that the ‘Your Party’ is going to become almost completely skewed towards radical Islam and will push all manner of dangerous and Britain-hating policies which will prioritise Islam at the expense of the rest of us.

However, there’s also a lot of laughs liable to be had at the expense of the ‘Your Party’ outfit. The main source of laughter is how so shortly after the Your Party’s formation it’s starting to look very ‘Judean Peoples Front/Peoples Front of Judea’ but as this is a Corbyn / Sultana based party the very idea that it would be favourable to the indigenous inhabitants of Judea i.e. the Jews, is highly fanciful. It’s not been a party for five minutes and already the internal arguments have started and these arguments appear to have been about who is leading the party and how Jew hating the party will eventually be (hint, what ever happens it will be more full of Jew haters than the Labour Party was under Corbyn). All parties sometimes wash their dirty linen in public but normally the party needs to exist for a few years before this happens not after a few weeks. I seem to recall that even the late and unlamented by me ‘Change UK’ party of Remainacs had a slightly longer period of togetherness than ‘Your Party’, or as it is being referred to by wags,’Jezbollah’, has had.

‘Your Party’ is a mess of rows, personality clashes and arguments about just how extreme the party is going to be in its politics. Needless to say whatever economic policies this outfit comes up with are going to be dire and damaging should they ever get into any sort of position of power, such policies would be of a Rachel Reeves level of failure and then some. If they ever got elected it we would have to ask the question ‘will the last inward investor to Britain please turn off the light’ although there might not be any light owing to Ed Miliband’s idiotic net zero policies.

This party is a mess before it’s even got properly going and it’s going to get worse. As is often the case with far leftist groups, this party is going to be a prime target for entryists primarily Islamic or Islamist but it’s also going to be a target for dangerous far left entities such as the Socialist Workers Party (SWP). The SWP have a reputation, not a good one, for being relaxed about working with some pretty extreme Islamic groups and individual either directly with protests, using these extremists as speakers or indirectly by having front groups that look socialist but feel rather too Islamist. Many sensible left wingers (and there are some out there) will not work on campaigns with the SWP on the grounds that the SWP will use their comparatively large amount of resources to take these campaigns over, because the SWP have ‘friends’ that are unpalatable to them, such as Islamists and because the SWP has a known history of being too lenient with those in leadership positions in the party who have been accused of sexual assault of other SWP members. A party such as ‘Your Party’ which is so utterly divided even as it starts up is bound to attract those sometimes dangerous entryists who can hide behind Corbyn’s Israel hating and faux concerns for the Gazans and Zarah Sultana’s sub-Sixth Form common room politics. Because of the problem that the Your Party is likely to have with entryism it would be wise to remember that however this party presents itself in its publicity materials or the statements of its leadership, what you see and hear from them will likely not be what you would be getting from them if they had any sort of power.

However it’s also likely that the British public will see this ‘Your Party’ for what it truly is which is a collection of the mad, the extreme, the woefully naive and those whose ideas are dangerous for the rest of us. They will take votes away from Labour, some Labour MP’s or those MP’s suspended from Labour along with some Labour branches will disaffiliate from Labour and join this new ‘Your Party’ / ‘Jezbollah outfit which in my view is a good thing. This is because such defections of branches, parliamentarians and voters will hurt Labour at a time when that’s the very last thing that the Labour Party either wants or needs.

As someone who used to be on the Left and saw a lot of the internecine fighting that is often normalised on the Left I suspect that this ‘Your Party’ will go down a similar path. ‘Purity spirals’ are not something that is only found on the political Right, it’s something that Leftist groups and parties are also susceptible to and this factor might be the undoing of the ‘Your Party’. If the trajectory of the ‘Your Party’ goes the same way as the RESPECT party, the Socialist Alliance and the Trade Union and Socialist Coalition, then it will be a party that makes lots of noise but fails to achieve any electoral significance. Yes, the involvement of Islamists and the potential for Islamist entryism into the ‘Your Party’ is something to worry about but we should all be able to have some great big laughs when the socialists in it start to tear each other apart over doctrinal and personality issues. Maybe the ‘Your Party’ should change it’s name to the ‘fighting like cats in a sack’ party to more accurately reflect this party’s nature?
