Well done Mr Linehan.

It seems that by some fluke the comedy writer Graham Linehan has managed to land a virtual punch on London’s truly awful Mayor Sadiq Khan.

Now Khan is a thin skinned sort of person who does not tolerate any criticism aimed towards him, not even if that criticism is reasonable or polite. For a long time Khan has restricted who can reply to him when he publishes his various political screeds on platforms like X.

But yesterday something went wrong. Graham Linehan managed to land a textual punch on shifty Sadiq. He managed to get a comment in on one of Khan’s political screeds before the post was limited to Khan’s sycophants. I don’t know what happened here, maybe one of Khan’s expensively remunerated minions who do his bidding at the Greater London Authority was too slow in blocking Mr Linehan but the fact that he managed to get the dig in at Khan is glorious.

Here’s what happened.

I’m glad to see Mr Linehan manage to get this criticism onto Khan’s timeline. My own view is that Khan is an elected public figure and therefore should not be allowed to hide from the public by him selectively blocking those who might criticise him. May I suggest to Mr Elon Musk the proprietor of the X platform that X amend its terms of service so that elected individuals cannot routinely block the public from commenting on what they say. For too long Khan has been able to hide behind a wall of arrogance and hubris and it’s time that Mr Musk tore down Khan’s wall so that we can see what we all think of him, the good and the bad.
