Money is just the expectation of subjective future value creation.

It helps people signal their wants and needs and lets others meet them with the expectation of being able to get their wants and needs met in the future thanks to trade with money. Else, you're stuck bartering inefficiently for things, like trying to trade eggs for tampons. Money works
because people work at meeting each other's subjective values.
