We Talk Friday Ep. 39: Two Hurls, One Government
I am sure that those old enough, will understand what the title is referencing.
But another week, another lot of shit that comes out of the US government's various orifices, with two major ones in the last day alone.
The first dishonarable mention
The government released an image of the arrest of Nekima Levy Armstrong, a lawyer protesting "ICE" in Minnesota. Apparently, they wouldn't let her turn herself in, but instead demanded to arrest her at the hotel she was staying at. Not only that she was protesting at a church, and is now supposedly charged under the "Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act", a law written to protect abortion clinics.
The irony.
But that isn't the disgusting part, this is:
That's right. The White House has digitally altered an arrest picture using AI to make it look as if Levy is sobbing and distraught. This is the US government doing this. And perhaps what is even more disturbing, is that when called out on it, they called it a meme. So not only are they peddling in petty propaganda, they don't know what the fuck a meme is.
The second more-dishonarable mention
This one should make every soldier disgusted.
"They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan. And they did, they stayed a little back, a little off the front lines".

For the record, over one third of all coalition soldier deaths in Afghanistan was non-American- More if you count those that were killed out of country in accidents travelling to or from. These aren't "a little off the frontline" deaths, these are mostly combat deaths in hostile action. And then of course, there are the many thousands more who were wounded.
And now Trump has made it clear what he actually thinks of the armed forces. He will rewrite history to suit himself, which means that he would do the same for Us soldiers also, if it suited his agenda.
Remember, he dodged going to Vietnam.
Five times.
That makes his statements on soldiers who did their duty, pretty fucking disgusting.
The Us government as it stands keeps proving time and time again, that it is a joke, that can't be trusted to honour a contract, as it can't even be trusted to abide by its own laws. It also can't be trusted to provide information, because time and time again it is wrong, misleading or clearly disinformation meant to pervert the narrative. Which perhaps makes sense in context to Trump being friends with a paedo, and the statements about pussy grabbing.

I think the image of Nekima Levy Armstrong that has been changed by AI is not just a meme, but it is a form of disinformation that weakens real activism.
US is the Master of disinformation
Not even sure they are masters - it is like the Kim Kardashian of photoshop errors.
It makes a mockery of authority and expertise.
The AI-altered photo thing is genuinely wild. For a government to release an official image that's been digitally manipulated and then call it a 'meme' when they get caught is a new level of strange.And the comments on Afghanistan are just as disappointing.
It is pretty pathetic. Yet, people keep supporting.
With the right narrative, people will support anything
When Trump stood as a president of peace, after not starting any new wars in his first term, I had some hope in him. That is all gone now, although I can't work out how much is him, and how much he is just pronouncing on behalf of the machine.
Apparently he wants a peace prize. Well, I suppose he did bomb a piece of Syria, and a piece of Iran, and a piece of Nigeria, and a piece of Venezuela, and a piece of Somalia, and a piece of Yemen...
Every time he opens his mouth about the military, he proves he sees service as a branding exercise
And he grabbed a piece of pussy.

Just like other people's land, he couldn't hold onto it for long, and it came with consequences....
I was thinking of having a probation period kind of government during the initial days, so that they can dethrown for wrong measures. But again that won't be success , they already dodge the public to get the power to play with. I doubt supporters were pretty happy too.
If there has to be a government, there should be "one government". No parties, just the best people hired for individual jobs. Like a company. Instead of profits, wellbeing is their goal.

I am reading where it was already altered and the WH just used the meme from the Internet. Either way, it is sick and is Joseph Goebbels type bullshit. This administration is full of BS and just this weekend was caught in several lies at the conference in Switzerland. Not the least of which was the one you bring up about our honorable allies who gave their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq. But it is unsurprising he would belittle them, hell he has belittled the service of our own people before. He has no honor.

Based on your background and circles, what is the general feel around the administration? The reason I ask is that while I know your opinion, I am not sure how general it is.
I would say it is half and half as far as support for the orange man and his ilk. But even those who support them, some are starting to flounder on the direction some of the admins policies have taken. However, there are those who would watch Trump murder someone in time square and still think he is the second coming of Christ.

yep, really interesting, but I believe it to be true. Just look at all he has done and how his die hards still support him.
Trump is closing doors on himself. Every day more people join in against everything he says and does, even his supposed allies are beginning to turn their backs on him. Very soon he will lose the approval of those who control from the shadows. Fuck Trump, fuck US, Fuck Left and Right
These are my feelings. Not about the US people, but the US institution as it stands. The model is fundamentally broken, yet they have convinced the people that all is well and it is the greatest country on earth.
The only thing that will make him lose support of those people is if their profit margins or money is tampered with, U.S is a highly capitalist society as long as you dont mess with the money, youre good and to hell with everyone else.
Trump is rather making America Poor Again. Poor in everything, education, international relations, militarily, etc. His supporters are cheering him on now, but they will be shocked when harvest time comes, time to reap the results of their reckless actions.
I have said before that Trump has all the makings of a dictator, maybe we should call him a democratic dictator, so it would be easier for those defending him to picture the truth we're trying to tell.
It always, most times, begins on a light or subtle note before it snowballs into what we know of authoritarianism. Biden was not a very adept president, but things were not this shaky under him. The terrifying thing is that we have three or so more years to endure this madness.
The debt model will collapse at some point, and he seems to be forcing it faster.
I wonder if the people regret voting for him, cos its one thing to view what is happening from outside the U.S and its another thing being in the U.S while all this is happening

Well, what would you expect when you elect a convicted criminal? The current administration is not business as usual.
Here's the problem, there are plenty of people who are outraged about this. I already know how you feel and I make it pretty clear how I feel as well. I want to see people who used to be true believers start to question the narrative and realize they have been defrauded. Unfortunately, all I see are the masses claiming we are the sheep and eating up everything that is fed to them.
