This is why my wife and I became precinct delegates, so we can at least represent our local neighborhoods and keep our finger on the pulse of local goings on.

Very nice, I'm the Precinct leader - but need to pass it on this year - since I'm doing so much local reporting on local governance. You've got the right of it though - and there is so much apathy that by showing up like your wife and you do - you increase your influence and impact by 100x.
