Gestapo: Sometimes the comparison is Warranted

I know that most of the time, when people compare something to the Third Reich, it automatically disqualifies them from the debate. The idea is that it's just too easy to call someone Hitler, making cheap shots boring and unhelpful.
As much as I agree with that logic, there comes a point when no other comparison fits.
A new memo is causing a stir — and honestly, it should. I don't see how this ends in anything but chaos. Apparently, ICE can now enter a home without a warrant, needing only "enough suspicion" to justify it.
Tell me: how does that square with the society we claim to live in? I simply can't reconcile it.
This, layered on top of the fact that there are laws allowing us to defend our homes from intruders — the Castle Doctrine, as it's properly called. I can legally kill someone breaking into my home without my authorization.
Are we just mixing chemicals for fun here? Can't the current administration see how badly this could end? Do they even care? And where are the once gun-toting, freedom-fighting voices now?
This is why I keep insisting: partisanship will be the death of us.
People aren't objective anymore. Reality isn't what you can see with your own eyes — it's whatever your team tells you it is.
Historical lessons? Ignored. Common sense? Optional. All that matters now is sticking to the plan.
I've already read the pushback on this reporting, and it doesn't ease my mind. Supposedly, ICE should only skip getting a warrant when it’s "impractical."
But here's the problem: it's always easy to claim that getting a warrant is impractical because operations are time-sensitive.
See how that works?
Are we not handing Judge Dredd-like powers to ICE agents? Can we not imagine the likely outcomes?
Someone reports a home as a hotspot for undocumented immigrants. ICE storms the house (there are already videos of this).
The homeowner, unaware of who is breaking in and seeing no warrant, defends themselves.
A shootout follows.
So yes — making the comparison to the Gestapo isn't just fair, it's necessary. In the name of maintaining the regime’s order, they were sent out with a simple task:
Do whatever it takes.
And you know what?
They actually did....
MenO
As always, MAGA fanatics are ok with this because "it will only happen to people who deserve it", but it will never happen to "me".
I seem to recall a poem about this.... something something "First they came for the Communists / And I did not speak out / Because I was not a Communist" something something etc.
Gee, if only we had some kind of history to teach us that things like this often don't end well.
There was a story a couple weeks back about border patrol combing through an Amtrak train at the Havre, Montana station and questioning people about their citizenship.
The problem now is not that Nazi comparisons don't apply, but that the label has been used and misused so much that it has lost all meaning, and no one takes it seriously. It's the story of the boy who cried wolf.
Additionally, there is a certain hypocrisy from those who were demanding COVID passports, lockdowns, and even concentration camps for dissidents 4 years ago suddenly saying a police state is bad. Oh, and the folks against such things then celebrating police state abuse now, of course. That's the partisan blindness at work.
this is really it... 100%
This is how Blue MAGA gave way to red MAGA. They literally shot themselves in the foot before the marathon began.
LoL, and to think it's just the beginning...
