A leader must not be a businessman.
Greetings friends!

Politics is not a bad profession unless the politicians are dumb, manipulative, characterless, or greedy. In its ideal form, politics should serve the betterment of humanity. It should guide and administer the society in a fair and constructive way. Yet in most of the places, political spaces have been dominated by people who misuse power. Those with integrity often avoid politics and even when they step forward, they rarely receive enough support of the people to rise to the top.
Unscrupulous and manipulative individuals often find it easy to persuade the public. They use every strategy and technique to convince people that only they can transform society. Meanwhile, honest individuals who try to lead may face humiliation, intimidation, or even violence from corrupt rivals. The public often hesitates to support them and institutions such as the army or police may still follow the orders of those already in power. This dynamic tells about a deep irony in human society.
In modern times, crony capitalism has become widespread. Many politicians are either businessmen themselves or heavily influenced by powerful business interests. Laws are often shaped in ways that allow the wealthy to avoid taxes, while ordinary citizens are pressured financially. Those who hold power frequently misuse it.
One recent example that has appeared in public discussion involves claims that Donald Trump’s statements are influencing financial markets and that some individuals close to him are taking market positions just before his statements and gaining huge profit from these fluctuations. These claims, as reported by various sources, describe behavior that is highly unethical and very harmful to the investors if proven.
What do you think about it?
Hello, and thank you for sharing these thoughts that resonate with many people around the world, I believe.
There is one thing that makes me wonder: How is it possible for a businessman who have filed for bankruptcy 6 times to become the President of the most powerful nation in the world?
Is it, perhaps, because it is other's people money that he deals with?
By the way, he has never filed for personal bankruptcy, so his own wealth is untouched, isn't it?

Excellent and thought-provoking post, @akdx! As a journalist, I see this dynamic playing out in many parts of the world. When the line between business and politics blurs, it's the common citizen who pays the price. The concept of 'crony capitalism' you mentioned is a real threat to the ideals of humanity. Integrity should indeed be the cornerstone of leadership, but as you rightly pointed out, the current political climate often discourages honest individuals from stepping forward. Thank you for raising such an important issue!
