We Have Saboteurs!!!

I believe that no matter how hard people fight for something, there will always be those who are willing to take the side of oppressors and remain in bondage. Not because they’re forced to or that they don’t know better, simply because they prefer it and find it more comfortable. For one reason or another, they would rather remain in their pain and torture than take the risk of actually getting out.

But then, meanwhile, there are other people who are actively trying to get them out of these situations, people who are risking life, limb, and reputation for the cause. But when all is said and done, these very people will dust their slippers and return right into the embrace of their oppressors. We have many of these people in society. Because in war, there will always be saboteurs.

Take my country, for instance, we’re all fighting for good governance. There are many people out there who are risking freedom to sensitize everybody because they want us to vote for the right candidates and get ourselves out of this suffering we find ourselves in. It’s supposed to be an open and shut case, the people are suffering, the cause of the suffering is obvious, the way forward is clear, then why are we not taking it?

Because while there are people actively working to spread the gospel of freedom, there are also those who are actively working to keep everyone in chains. There are those who will take cups of rice, knowing they’d keep suffering. Those who will collect a stipend and defend this government with everything that they have. As I said, we have saboteurs.

And sadly, this isn’t just a politics thing; it cuts across all spheres of life. Every day, feminists are fighting for the rights of women, justice for victims of domestic violence and rape, equity in the workplace, and all that. But meanwhile, once in a while, you see the very people they’re fighting for return right to their oppressors. A woman rescued from her abusive husband would sneak right back to be with him; some would even go as far as withdrawing the charges against them. Or while feminists online are speaking the gospel of feminism, other women would also be speaking the opposite, countering everything previously said.

And it’s no different with men; no matter what is said about masculinity, there will always be those who are thwarting it. We try to clean up society to have good men, but then there are still weak men. We still have rapists, we still have simps, stalkers, creeps. When the entire gender tries to move five steps forward, these guys drag us seven steps backward. And then it seems like we’re fighting a never-ending battle.

Honestly, this is something I’d never get, this psyche of certain people to prefer to stay with their oppressors than risk freedom, regardless of how costly it might be. And that’s where the danger is, because as long as they keep being scared to take the bull by the horns, take charge of their lives, and break away from their oppressors, they’d keep on dragging everyone back, stalling the movement.

But we can’t stop. We can’t afford to stop because lives are depending on the movement.
