🦋 Butterflies vs. the Cartel 🌲

If you think being an environmental activist is all tree-hugging and peace signs… think again.
Homero Gómez González, known as “The Butterfly Man” of Michoacán, spent his life protecting the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary standing up to illegal logging and deforestation.
A good cause, right?
But in January 2020, Homero suddenly vanished. Two weeks later, his body was found floating in a reservoir head injuries and drowning.
Why does this matter?
Because Homero wasn’t fighting politicians in fancy suits. He was standing up to criminal networks that profit from destroying forests to expand avocado plantations and timber trades.
Notice the pattern yet?
Activists, journalists, mezcal makers, madres buscadoras, community leaders even the president of the Lemon and Lime Producers Association.
Different names, same story.
They all fall victim to the same corrupt machine, that silences anyone who dares to care
And while politicians love to talk about “human rights” and “due process,” Homero’s story exposes the truth no one wants to say out loud:
Who are they really protecting the people, or their profits?
That’s right cartels don’t just deal drugs anymore… they deal in land.
Homero died protecting something beautiful.
And that’s exactly what makes his story unforgettable. 🦋💔
